M&P 15T Gas Block Pin
Imgur: The most awesome images on the InternetHave a M&P 15T with a quad rail. While cleaning I noticed the gas block pin is protruding 1/8 to 3/16 inch. Should this be pushed in to be flush with the gas block? Rifle is running fine.

What does the other side look like? Can't tell from the pic... but typically the pins should be flush or almost flush, not protruding that much so I would assume that it would be the same on the 15T.

Does that look like a gas block? Normally they are solid pieces, not like that pic. I dunno.

I'm assuming that it is the gas block... photo taken through the hole in the hand guard.

I duknow...
Is that the pic you intended to post?
If so, could you zoom out to better identify what it is?

AR15T Gas Block
Picture was taken through the hand guard. As a follow up I just received an email from S&W. They stated that as the pin is tapered this condition is normal. Guess I'll just keep my eye on it. If it moves further I'll pound it back in. Thanks for the feedback.

That seems like an odd response... most pins for gas blocks are tapered, and I have never seen one that protrudes...

Me either, they normally sit flush.

I just looked at my 15T just now and it is the exact same way, so I'm guessing it's fine. It can't sit flush because it is too long. It is flush on the side it was driven in from tho. I think if you backed it out that it would actually loosen it up if its a tapered pin. Would just leave it alone would be what I am going to do. Didn't notice it till I just read your post. My rifle is new and only has like 10 rounds shot through it so far.

I've got the same quad rail on mine. Was curious what a good option would be for a slimmer, lighter, less bulky free floated hand guard would be?
