From another gun forum:

I just talked with S&W about this.
They said there is nothing wrong or any current issues with their rifles.
Then she said, from what she has heard... it has to do with the pressure of their rounds.
I have a sport II and just bought 500 rounds of Wolf Steel Case. Now I am afraid to shoot it. Ugh.
Not sure why Wolf is singling out M&P though... seems really odd.

I just had a thought...Wolf makes lots of ammo. Including 22LR. Could this warning be directed toward the M&P 15-22 that had problems at the appleseed event some time ago? Maybe the press report didn't include the entire rifle model. M&P 15 oops, I mean 15-22.
Is this the possible reason for this issue, since I seriously doubt the AR version would have problems with any ammo that is mil-spec.

The wording by Wolf is very vague at best.

I don't think so. Regardless Wolf doesn't make the ammo, there a US import company

Not familiar with the 15-22; does it have a barrel extension? Does it have a locking bolt arrangement, or is it a simple blow-back design?

Simple blow back. There was an incident a couple of years ago with a 15-22 firing out of battery during an appleseed event, after a range officer had reportedly "fixed" a problem with the gun. The guns were banned from appleseed then and still are.

We banned them at our speed steel matches for awhile but we're back allowing them. Most have installed anti walk pins but don't really know how that affects oob.

Ok.
That would seem to preclude the possibility that Wolf was talking about a 15-22. Baby steps...

It's easy:
Commie ammo for Commie guns! I use PPU, Hornaday and Fiocchi instead. Freedom Munitions is a great source of good ammo, too.

So, you use PPU, otherwise known as Prvi Partizan, made in Serbia. They provide ammo to the Serbian armed forces, whose main battle rifle is the Zastava M70, an AK derivative. While Serbia today is a parliamentary republic, not to long ago they were a communist country...

Lol
Yeah the irony! PPU translates to First (Prvi) Patizan (Partisan) Užice (city).
In other words First Partisan factory because it was ran by Tito's Communist guerrillas.
I'm always amazed at those phrases! So why is he shooting Fiocchi? Italian ammo for Italian guns?
