Not only is this grip extremely comfortable, but it has a little bit of space inside of it to store small batteries (think red dot). It has enough front and rear plate options that you are sure to find the perfect feel. Highly recommended!

Though not quite as ergonomic as that grip posted above, I've been real happy with the Mag-pul grips. One of the commonly seen models also has a trap door in the base for some storage space.
(I've run across both the AR and AK versions pretty cheap on Ebay and various gun-related classified sites and forums).
The rubber,finger-grooved Hogue grip is also popular and economical (and it is highly ergonomic).

I have the Magpul MOE+ grips on all my rifles. They provide a nice sticky rubbery grip that I have found to be the best I've tried....and I've tried a few. They make either the standard MOE+ or the MOE+K2 if you want a more verticle style grip. I use the K2s for my close quarter rifles and the standard for my longer range rifle.
Quick story, I was at the range a year ago or so and a marine was shooting next to me. We got chatting and asked about the rilfe I was shooting. I asked if he wanted to try it and he took me up on it. Anyway, he gripped my MOE+ and immediatly said that was the most awesome grip he has ever held and snapped a picture of it so he could buy one for his rifle. Just a testimonial to the MOE+.

Out of the 5 rifles I have, the magpul I have is my least favorite. Still better than stock.
I have a hogue and its comfortable, but the BCM grips feels the best to me. My other rifle has the stock Daniel Defense grip, its nice so I kept it on that rifle.
You really need to look at and feel a few to decide, I've let shooters at the range try mine to see what fit them best.

I have the Houge Overmold on my AR's and AK's. I hate the A2 grip, the bumps in the wrong spot.
I was schooled on the A1.

Sorry to hear that.
Like Jimmyjones, I learned AR on an M-16A1 and so when I saw the grip on my Sport II, I thought it was going to be very uncomfortable with the bump between the middle and ring finger, but after I reied using it, I really didn't have a problem.
While I haven't felt the need to change my grip, I have seen the one Pro2nd and Scar333 have recommended and it's what I would have looked to first had I wanted to make a change.

Still a fan of the Hogue with the beavertail. Still kind of ticked that I paid $20 for the 2 I have and then found them on CDNN for my cousin for $10 not too long ago. But the grip is a personal choice and if you are able to hold a few, get the one you think feels best. That preference is going to always be different from one person to the next.

I have the Magpul MOE+ grips on both my ARs. They have a rubberized coating and provide a firm comfortable hold. Also there is a storage space compartment.

I prefer the Hogue. Curiosly, so does the wife with much smaller hands.
Also have Hogue on other guns.

I have the Hogue. I've always been a fan of finger grooves. However, the rubber of the Hogue is just OK.
At one class, where the temp got to 90°F+, the rubber started to rub on my hand. I ended up wearing a glove.
Believe it or not, I actually prefer the standard GI grip. Tough, cheap and functional.

If you like to hold your arm out like a chicken wing, you'll probably like the angle of the standard grip. If you like to hold your elbow closer in to your side, you'll probably like the less angled grips.

I learned the "chicken wing" hold shooting high power competition. All my AR's have the stock grip, even if I have started squaring up to the target and tucking my elbow in closer to my side. Guess it's just what you get used to.

Well I just went out and shot my Sport 2 yesterday for the first time. It was the first time ever shooting an AR for me also.
I liked everything about the grip, and the charging handle and the trigger. But what do I know?
I went about 100 rounds trying to figure out if I had the irons sighted correctly.
I still don't know......but the stock handle felt just fine to me!
I'd like to add that I did change the hand guard to a Magpul MOE with the heat shield. Looks better and felt great!

I notice that Ruger in the pic, I have the 22/45 lite and have been thinking about those or the Volquartsen grips for it. Do you have an opinion, or is that your wife's pistol?

I have both the Magpul MAID and I the LaRue A-PEG.
As a Magpul fan in general its hard to say this, but I like the LaRue A-PEG much better than the Magpul. It comes in rough or smooth texture. I went with the rough and was afraid it would be too aggressive, but its not. It feels very good in the hand. Everyone who has shot my rifle with it has been impressed. I am always asked, "Where did you get that grip and who makes it?" It is cheap too on sale for $14.00 right now. If your lucky you will get some Dillodust and other swag. They usually throw a bunch of extras like that for free.
LaRue Tactical A-PEG Grip

I do like the storage compartment in the Magpul MAID, but really don't use it much. I'd go with the A-PEG.
