Though not quite as ergonomic as that grip posted above, I've been real happy with the Mag-pul grips. One of the commonly seen models also has a trap door in the base for some storage space.
(I've run across both the AR and AK versions pretty cheap on Ebay and various gun-related classified sites and forums).
The rubber,finger-grooved Hogue grip is also popular and economical (and it is highly ergonomic).

I have the Magpul MOE+ grips on all my rifles. They provide a nice sticky rubbery grip that I have found to be the best I've tried....and I've tried a few. They make either the standard MOE+ or the MOE+K2 if you want a more verticle style grip. I use the K2s for my close quarter rifles and the standard for my longer range rifle.

Quick story, I was at the range a year ago or so and a marine was shooting next to me. We got chatting and asked about the rilfe I was shooting. I asked if he wanted to try it and he took me up on it. Anyway, he gripped my MOE+ and immediatly said that was the most awesome grip he has ever held and snapped a picture of it so he could buy one for his rifle. Just a testimonial to the MOE+.

Out of the 5 rifles I have, the magpul I have is my least favorite. Still better than stock.

I have a hogue and its comfortable, but the BCM grips feels the best to me. My other rifle has the stock Daniel Defense grip, its nice so I kept it on that rifle.

You really need to look at and feel a few to decide, I've let shooters at the range try mine to see what fit them best.

I have the Houge Overmold on my AR's and AK's. I hate the A2 grip, the bumps in the wrong spot.

I was schooled on the A1.

Sorry to hear that.

Like Jimmyjones, I learned AR on an M-16A1 and so when I saw the grip on my Sport II, I thought it was going to be very uncomfortable with the bump between the middle and ring finger, but after I reied using it, I really didn't have a problem.

While I haven't felt the need to change my grip, I have seen the one Pro2nd and Scar333 have recommended and it's what I would have looked to first had I wanted to make a change.

Been through a few. Dont care for the MagPul angle but my kid loves it. Have a Hogue Overmoulded on my pistol....love that one. (kind of a Hogue fanboi anyways)

Ordered one of those from Wally^^^ just now. Been wantin to try that style and I love finger grooves.

Still a fan of the Hogue with the beavertail. Still kind of ticked that I paid $20 for the 2 I have and then found them on CDNN for my cousin for $10 not too long ago. But the grip is a personal choice and if you are able to hold a few, get the one you think feels best. That preference is going to always be different from one person to the next.

I have the Magpul MOE+ grips on both my ARs. They have a rubberized coating and provide a firm comfortable hold. Also there is a storage space compartment.

I prefer the Hogue. Curiosly, so does the wife with much smaller hands.
Also have Hogue on other guns.
