Default 600 rds later...Sport 2...

Yeah, I know, 600 doesn't seem like much to many shooters.
However, I have many "mouths" to feed. On a "limited" (Wife, Minister of Funds) budget.
7mm, 8mm, 7.62/.308, 7.5 Swiss, 7.62x39, 9mm....etc. Get the picture?

New to the AR.
AK 47 "Man" since the early '90's. Norinco, Maadi, Nodac Spud, etc.
5.56/.223 cartridge looks like an "infant" compared to what I am used to.
Never was interested in an AR platform until I got a deal on the Sport. I'm loving it.
Have fed steel, brass, lacquer coated ammo thru it. It's "eaten" all.
Function? Flawless. Must have gotten a "Good-Un".
Accuracy? Better than my 60 year old eyes.
Price/Fun per round? I always have a smile.
NOT trading it off for my PTR/CETME combo....but, it's a "Go To" should I need to run....
Happy Old Man....600 rds later.

The best way to beat the ammo budget blues is to take up reloading. You won't save any money but you will have at least twice the number of rounds than when purchasing the cheap budget ammo. In addition if you ever put together a precision AR with a Krieger or Shilen barrel you'll have the ability to assembly ammunition that produces cloverleafs at 100 yards.

BTW, if you do take up reloading I found that Varget works well for producing accurate ammo and those who look down on Hornaday bullets need to actually try some before judging them as inferior. I have one favorite load that shoots under 3/10 inch at 100 yards with my Shilen barreled precision rifle that features a 68 grain Hornady BTHP match bullet over a charge of Varget in a Lake City case. Last time I bought a batch of these bullets (on sale) my total cost per assembled cartridge was 30 cents.

I've been thinking about getting into reloading. Any ball park figure of how much money to get started. I've already got a **** load of brass.

Depends on the level of production, check youtube for the basics, Midway for complete kits (which need additions)

If you want a progressive system to feed your 3 gun practice, there's a lot of money involved.

Geoff
Who hasn't reloaded in decades.

Yeah. I've got a Friend who reloads 7.7 Arisaka and 7.35 Carcano rounds for me. I bought all the dies, etc. Thought about getting into it myself, but I don't want to "screw up"....
