Default Looking Sport 2

Anyone have any gun shop etc that ship sport 2's to FFL dealer. Been looking online lately for one and a lot are out of stock or priced to high. If anyone has a website/link/ or shop that has them in stock and at a good price would be appreciated

Good luck. I’m having same problem.

The price increase is supply and demand. The demand is high given the gun control frenzy talk.

Will the prices remain high or continue higher is anyones guess. A lot will depend on whether or not the talk of restriction on AR fades away or makes it into legislation.

All I know is NRA new membership is WAY up and rhese “antis” have created and sold more AR’s and guns than anything.

Went to Cabelas this sunday and literally had to take a number and wait in anline of about 20 people deep to even look at a gun in the counter. The used area also was busy and selling guns.

If you want a good source of available guns try this web site. I searched for a Sport there. The only results were for 15-22's. It's a bad time right now to buy a gun unless you have plenty of money and even then it will be hard to find what you want.

Search results for s&w m&p 15 sport | gun.deals

Yup. Sure enough. When the market hits $1200, mine is going right out the door to the person who wants to pay that. Now, if they ban and confiscate them, I guess mine will be going out the door for free.

There are several gun shops in my area that have Ar-15's on the shelf in abundance. Ruger, S&W, Del-Ton, Colt, Diamond Back, are all in stock in at least three shops that I've been to within the last two weeks. I don't know where you live, but I'd be surprised if one of these shops near me wouldn't ship you one to a FFL near you.

You have chosen to enter the market at a time when there is a wave of panic buying in the aftermath of the Parkland shooting that has cleaned out a lot of shops.

At this point, your best bet is to wait about 90 days. The media has already started to shift from the drumbeat of "AR bans" to wringing their hands over the threat of steel and aluminum tariffs, so the panic should abate rather quickly and prices fall again in response.

Trump has already backed down on limiting AR's to people 21 years old. I knew he would realize he stepped on the toes of his base. He won't do anything except ban bump stocks. This panic will likely be over soon. AR stockpiles in stores were probably way down because there was no panic buying before Parkland. That's probably the reason they sold out so quick. I'm guessing they will be back pretty soon.

People are panic buying right now, because of the media hype.

I had been looking for a somewhat hard to find version. Sport II Optics Ready with Magpul M-lok hand guard. GrabAGun had the exact model I wanted in stock for $200 less than MSPR and at least $100 less than anything close to what I wanted locally.
Give 'em a try.

I saw a Optics ready on the shelf today for $539 at my local dealer. Give them a call and see if they will ship to you:

Pay the $100 and buy locally.

You're going to miss that gun shop when it goes out of business because everyone like you who was chasing the last dollar deprived it of the business it needed to survive.

On the other hand, GrabAGun is local to me and you, so if they buy from them, they are keeping another local option open for us!

I always try to keep the LGS's in business. The good ones anyway. You never know when you might need some ammo for an odd caliber in a hurry and ordering from the net isn't getting you anything in a hurry. Plus there's the service you get including things like paying to have guns shipped to the factory for service. I have only ever ordered one gun off the net. For one thing I want to see what I'm getting before I pay for it.

Agree on supporting the local guys. Seems strange for some based on where I live, but have 3 gun shops and a Sportsmans Warehouse all within 15 minutes of home. Also a Wally World, but it's ammo only. And the SW has/had the Sport II sale priced at 499.99. That's Cal legal. Fixed stock, fin grip, and no muzzle device/threading.

Only bought 1 gun online, and it's still legal to do here. Just has to go through FFL and the 10 Day wait. It's a T/C Compass in 6.5 Creedmoor, and will be here on the 21st. OTD price after rebate going to be just under 250.

First off, none of the local shops had the exact model I wanted. A couple had one that was close, but the lowest price was $650. GrabAGun had it for $539. I'm retired, price matters.
Secondly, my dealer is retired too and also a friend. These days his extra income is entirely from doing transfers for folks buying guns on line. So I AM supporting him!

I'm all for supporting a local gun shop when possible. But when they're all over priced and never have what you want, I buy on-line. This is especially true when, like many folks on this forum, you're trying to build a collection of old guns that aren't readily available anyway. On-line is the only way to go.
Preaching support your LGS is all fine and good, it just ain't always practical.

My LGS tries put it to the locals
There are some shops like that in my area but fortunately there are so many it isn't hard to find one where they treat you right. Even the ones that would like to burn their customers have to come off their high horse if they want to stay in business. Good old fashioned competition helps a lot. But I have seen local shops try to burn people alive especially during the shortages. I don't give them much money. I was more or less forced to pay too much at a shop recently though. My daughter bought me a gift card for a local indoor range. Since I can shoot out my front door year round if I want I ended up buying AR mags for way too much money. I kept that card over a year before I finally used it.

Agree with buying locally and have purchased all my guns from local shops. That being said didn't have to wait too long. My gun shop had a smith and wesson sale and ended up getting one for 499$. They previously were around 600$ there and had only 2-3 in stock so lucked out on the sale ! time to hit the range

I was trying to find an M&P-15 Sport II here in KC or just over the State Line in Kansas so I could buy locally, but the small shops had them barely less than MSRP and one of the big sporting goods stores had one for only $100 off the MSRP. I ended up getting mine for $499, no tax and only $20 shipping from Vance Outdoors after catching it on sale.
