S&W builds good AR-15's as I have a Sport II. They also have an excellent warranty that will handle any problems you may run into. But I don't see them being a $850 AR. I would buy a PSA AR 15 with a stainless 1/7 twist rifle barrel with Magpul furniture for around $500. I have two of these also and they shoot as good as the S&W Sport II and both function perfectly.
You can order the upper and it would be shipped directly to your house. The lower would be shipped to your local FFL for you to pick up. They have a list of FFL dealers and they have one in the area where you live so it's an easy deal.

I've recently been considering one of these #11600 M&P 15T rifles.
M&P(R)15T Tactical with M-LOK(R) | Smith & Wesson

If this is what you can get at $850, it sounds to be a good deal.
The info I posted indicates a free-floating handguard and is advertised at 6.7 pounds.

I currently have a very similar Springfield-Armory "Saint". My LGS had the Saint in stock the day I bought, and it would have been a tough decision if they had the #11600 M&P 15T for sale at the same time. I might have bought both at the same time, if it did have both for sale.

The 1/8 5R rifling is a good one. No, I don't think $850 is bad for that rifle. If I were building a rifle, that is a style of rifling I'd like to get.

It's not common to see a pre-made rifle that I wouldn't change something on, but this one is close. I'm sure I'd want to change the trigger, but I'd probably do that to any gun. I like the forearm.

This rifle with an ACOG would be a great tool.

It's specs and barrel is what made me just buy one. The trigger will defiantly be replaced.
