Default M&P 15 sport 2 muzzle brake

I am considering a new Smith & Wesson M&P 15 sport two, it must be California compliant, Can I have the barrel be threaded for a muzzle break or do they make a slip on muzzle brake.

In CA they don't come with a threaded barrel?
Not familiar with CA compliant.

If you're talking a brand new Sport II, it comes already compliant. It has to be compliant or it can't be brought into the state.

I know the new S&W A.R. 15 is compliant what I want to know is if I can have the barrel threaded for a muzzle break or if they make a muzzle break that can slip on and tightened with a set screw.

I would think if you have it threaded it would no longer be compliant.

That goes to the other half of my question, an unthreaded muzzle break that would slip over the barrel and use a set screw to tighten it down. I put one on a rifle with a smaller barrel about 20 years ago and to this day it is still fine. I tried to find one on the web for the MP 15 but I am noy very goid with computers.

Being threaded does not make it non-compliant. Threaded muzzles are only a problem if they're on pistols. There are clamp on style brakes, but none made for the AR that I can find. You probably could get one made, but it will more than likely be real pricey.

@Muss-pretty much like you would a normal grip. Only difference is your thumb doesn't wrap around. Similar to what you would use if you were shooting a chassis rifle in PRS competition. It's a little weird at first, but rifle is still controllable.
