Default Which Go-NoGo Gauge?

My newish M&P-15 is back at its birthplace today to have the dreaded "bent rounds" feeding problem fixed. When it comes back, I'd like to check it with a pair of Go-NoGo gauges.

For this rifle, do I want 5.56 or .223 gauges? Do I need to buy an expensive set or will the cheaper ones do the job?

Thanks in advance!

I doubt you will need them as I am sure they won’t return your rifle without checking the headspace but any reputable gauges will work.

Go to Brownells and buy the Clymer Go/ NO Go in 5.56. You will probably be good. Every S&W I have checked were all good.

Not going to post a link but the part # is GONG556, cost is $66.00.

You will also need to remove the ejector. Can be done without an ejector removal tool, but, if you got money to burn, buy the tool.

Part # on that tool is YM023 $44.00

I love tools, I own a lot lol. I love my tools as much as my guns!

I have managed to collect some good tools lol. This one drawer in my Snap On tool box is gun tools only, mostly for AR15s, some Glocks tools and a couple of Mossberg specific tools.

Including the recommended Go / NO Gauge and Ejector removal tool mentioned in this thread.
