Default Sport Ii must have accessories

I so wanted to keep my new Sport Ii as basic as possible, but ....

that just wouldn’t work. I’ve added 7 items so far, 3 i had to purchase, the remaining 4 were from other 6920 projects.

So here are my must haves, whats yours?

Weapon light and mount - luckily i had a spare TLR-7 and Custom Defense BLAM rail.

Blitzkrieg Components AR-15 Chevron Front Sight Post - keeping just iron sights, i wanted a front sight that would stand out. I picked Luminescent Green.

Double lined front handguards - i had a spare set after adding KAC rails to a 6920.

Center point sling attachment - my outdoor range requires the muzzle to be pointed straight down when slung on our tactical range. The Tactical Link Gen 2 Z-360 QD Sling Mount is awesome.

Ambi Selector - sometime i shoot left handed. A KAC Ambidextrous Safety Selector fills the bill and is so fast using both thumb and index finger.

Magpul 30 round mag with window. -I’m just so use to seeing how many free rounds are in the mag.

Hopefully thats it for my new moderately priced AR that shoots GREAT!

I am adding a USGI web sling to my Sport II, and have a TRS-25 Bushnell red dot, while still keeping the flip-up sights. I kind of like basic firearms and I usually don't make very many changes. I am thinking of adding a Magpul K2 pistol grip which I already have on my Sport and I like very much.

Recently stocked up on Okay magazines, and Magpul Gen 3 windowed mags.

I agree, if you shoot a lot, a handguard upgrade to one with a heat shield is a must at a minumum. Also, for me a trigger upgrade of some sort was a must too. Whether you polish the existing trigger or go full on replacement, this is a must. Beyond that, it's all preference. You can do a spring swap to cut down on the "twang" or add a good battery assist lever (still a fan of those) or add a red dot, but again those are all preference.

I went with the Magpul MOE handguard, the shape is very comfortable in my hand and I can add rail sections and an MFT Minimalist buttstock. The stock rattles less and feels a bit better.
I have a Truglo 3/4 inch riser on the receiver for optics. With a 1x dot sight, I get a perfect lower 1/3 iron sight cowitness through the optic. This means that if the dot dies, I don't have to take the optic off, but can use the backup sights through the optic.

Don't think there are really any must haves, unless you live in places like I do. Adjustable stock-illegal so fixed. Flash hider-illegal so comp. Pistol grip-illegal so replaced that. Wearing bifocals-so 4-14x scope.

No must haves. Mine is bone stock other than a Sig red dot. Has been for several years and several thousand rounds.

You can get a set of Colt milspec M4 handguards at a gun show for ten bucks. Replace the OEM skinny Car-15 style ones with those.

FWIW, I was able to find a set of slim handguards with single heatshield, it the fat, double-shielded M4 guard is too large for comfort.
I try them, for variety, but keep going back to the MOEs.
