Question M&P AR15 MPN's Question...... HELP PLEASE !!!!

Looking for some help understanding the differences in these (2) MPN's. I've been looking @ 2 different AR15 SPORT II's yet they have different MPN's. They are priced the same, but my local FFL Dealer can't tell my why the #'s are different and what the differences in the two AR's are.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm BIG on buying the S&W M&P product line (my daily CC's are M&P 9mm, .357sig & .45acp all are
mid frames that are rotated depending on circumstances) just want clarification on this issue please.

The 2 MPN's are listed below.

MPN - 10202 ID# - 1430123

MPN - 12024 ID# - 1507355

Again a humongous Thank You in advance for any insight and clarification that can be provided.

Based on the website the 10202 comes with iron sites. The 12024 does not, it is their optics ready version. That's just a quick search, not sure of you were looking for something deeper than that.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I guess I should've been a bit more detailed..... I was aware of the stock & sites differences in the 2. I was thinking surely there were some other advantages of 1 over the other vs what's listed on the websites Specs. Maybe I'm overanalyzing this, maybe the differences are just that simple. Just wanted to ensure wasn't missing pertinent advantages of 1 over the other.
Again many thanks for the reply!!!!

The sport II OR also comes with the M-Lok handguard which is awesome. I would look at the S&W website. You can look at both specs there. There seem to be some nuances.

Will do...... Thanks. I can purchase a Magpul MOE M-LOK Carbine-Length Handguard for less than 22.00, so that wasn't going to be a deal breaker. I've scoured the site for differences over last few days and can't seem to find that pop out reason folks are buying the 10202 in droves over the 12024 and just adding the Magpul MOE M-LOK to them. There has got to be something that I'm missing that isn't obvious astecally. I dunno even FFL dealer not sure why it's a 4-1 purchase ratio going with the 10202 version.

The only differences are the handguards and the sights. The fixed front sight is old school and many folks don't want that anymore. That is why the ORC outsells the baseline Sport.

Thanks for the reply...... that's the problem the 10202 Sport II version out sells the 12024 Sport II OR version 4-1. All are buying 10202 and adding the Magpul M-LOK Handguard. Sure fire head scratcher.

I thought you said the sales were the other way. Either way, you are over analyzing. Everything else is the same. If your local FFL can't tell you what the differences are, I wouldn't trust his numbers on sales.

The core of it boils down to what features do you want? If you don't want the fixed front sight because you are going to put a scope on the rifle, then buy the ORC. If you want the fixed front sight but want a different hand guard, then buy the base line Sport. The receiver, barrel, bolt, and trigger are all the same. The rest is just accessories.

Agreed buddy, I'm done over thinking this.

I live on 30 acres in a remote township and the ONLY local FFL dealer (pawn shop) is a butt and could care less one way or the other, because he knows it's +/- 40 miles each way into the city. He realistically makes his money on the pawn side of things in addition to charging 100.00 for a transfer in - if you can believe folks pay that to not make the drive.
On all my other purchases I've always gone into the city, but was dumb enough to think he'd be able to handle this purchase, welp he had no answers, so did my online research then ultimately came to you guys in the forum.
I've decided to pull the trigger on the 10202 and just replace the handguard w/a Magpul
M-LOK for around 22.00 and mount an Aimpoint Carbine Optic Red Dot Reflex Sight on it (Use Aimpoint products on most my other long guns & haven't been disappointed thus far) my research shows the front will only be a faint low point visual image.
I know this is going to sound like dumb logic, but in some odd event should my optics go out, I can flip up the rear and go old school.

I truly appreciate the honesty and help.

Sounds like a good plan and a solid choice on rifle and optic!
