First, thank you to everyone that contributes here. I am fairly new to this forum and find it super valuable. That said, recently purchased an MP Sport II OR as a first AR to learn with.

I picked up a set of UTG BUIS MNT -757 and MNT-957. They look great and have a great solid feel to them too. The problem is that they won’t stay down and flush to the rail when folded down. Has anyone had this issue? It’s slight but bothersome.

Anyone have ideas on how to fix this? I know I can send them back to UTG but that seems like a lot to go through for a cheap set of BUIS. I know I can throw them away too and move on but would appreciate your input.

I've owned these sights so will comment. They are without a doubt one of the best BUIS values around. Very solid. Also you will notice that they are extremely hard to deploy (the button is stiff). This will go away with use.

They do not lay perfectly flat, I would say about a 15 degree angle. Any more than that and they are probably defective.

Post pics of the side so we can see how bad it is.

Toss them and get set of Magpul MBUS sights. UTG makes cheap garbage as you're finding out. Generally in the AR world, certain items are popular for a reason and this is no exception. My set is close to 8 years old and have been bounced around a ton in their day and they've held zero and gotten me to prize tables at matches.

They lay flat, they stay folded, and they're very easy to deploy and adjust.

The "just as good" crowd will be in shortly to shout me down.

I have to agree with looking at something else. Even the Magpul would not be my choice were it not for the BU part of BUIS. However in a backup role, the Magpuls have worked well for me.

If a range gun, etc. it probably does not matter. But for a patrol rifle that is stored in a vehicle trunk, occasionally hurriedly tossed from one vehicle to another, generally banged around when in use, etc. like a rifle actually used in an LE / MIL role, IMO, the Magpul is the minimum. If a primary sight to be used on a railed gun with no built in sights at all, I would definitely go to some of the better built rigid sights, or stronger pop ups if you are saddled with cheap optics as some are.

I always thought UTG was the translated Chinese acronym for Airsoft Use Only, or something like that.... :-)

Yeah, that's normal. If it bothers you sell them and get a different set like others have stated.

The only thing that would worry me about those is gettin them snagged on your gear. But, if they work, good for you.

Stay away from UTG, NcStar, etc., stuff whenever possible. Most of their stuff is cheap junk. If you want budget friendly, but better quality stuff, check out AR products offered by AT3 Tactical. Better quality and life time, no questions asked, warranties. Great folks to do business with.

I think the ones you have are metal. You definitely want that with the front gas block rail. Polymer sights would melt from the gas block heat if you shoot the rifle enough to get it hot.

From the pictures, that looks normal for the UTG.

For what it's worth, UTG is Chinese made, UTG Pro is US made. Or at least they were. That could have changed over the years.

I am not sure what you want for sights as you say “cheap
set of BUIS.” Obviously better quality sights are available but they are more expensive. All of my AR’s wear iron sights including the ones with Red Dots and scopes as I do not trust batteries. As for scopes they are high enough quality about the only way they would fail me would be from a accident. Still the possibility is there.

I have a set of UTG fold down sights like yours. They are intended for back up use on a scoped AR. For this application they serve well as it is unlikely the scope will ever fail me in the field. So other than when I sight them in for the first time I will probably never use them.

I am not all that much of fan of polymer Magpul BUIS. IMO they are oversize. Magpul makes metal fold down sights but they are not “cheap” or inexpensive.
