CMMG BRAVO .22 LR AR CONVERSION KIT
I have an opportunity to buy one of these. Anybody familiar with it? Is it any good? Where can I find extra magazines and how much would they cost?

Midway has the mags:
CMMG 25R3 Rimfire Conversion Mag AR-15 CMMG Ciener Tactical Solutions
For what it's worth this design has been around since at least the
80's and the bugs are worked out of it nicely.
I've got a couple of the Atchisson kits which are earlier versions of
this kit that I use on my M-16. They run fine and CMMG are as good
with the exception the CMMG kit doesn't come with the full
auto trip and anti-bounce device needed for full auto fire.
Maxwell Atchisson designed a good conversion.

The conversion kit with 3 mags was on sale at Brownells last weekend. Chances are they have individual mags available. My kit is still stuck in the bowels of Fedex, so I can't comment on its performance. I'm happy to hear it should be bug-free.

Well I missed the one I was offered. Somebody beat me to it.
However.....
CZU: that's a great deal from Palmetto. About an $80 savings. I ordered one. Thanks!

I got my CMMG kit from Brownell's last year during a similar sale. With three mags, it's as if two were free. Works perfectly in my M&P15, and has only a few problems with the 22LR brands I've tried.

I've owned the CMMG kit for years and love it.
Only good for gas operated AR15. Do not buy if you have a piston operated AR15. Buy the Lightin"Grip speedloader .. You can thank me later..LOL. If you are a going for long shot super tight groups you will not be happy. It works great for plinking and teaching a young person to shoot the AR15. At the time my 9 year old daughter spent a few weeks with the CMMG and then we moved to the 556 bolt and she loved her AR15 even more. Cabelas has the extra magazine and in fact has the kit as well.

Bought a dedicated .22 cmmg upper. Very accurate, picked up 6 Black Dog mags and a mcfadden speedloader. Loads a mag as fast as my rifle can unload it. A fun gun.

The conversion kits are more accurate in the old ARs, with slower twist barrels but are acceptable in the newer 1-7 to 1-9 barrels. I had a couple that were marketed by Colt in the 80’s and 90’s. I now have a PSA LR upper that is much better IMO. Although my favorite rifle is a S&W M&P 15-22. It is lighter than the full AR upper so is not an exact replacement for your 5.56 AR.

I bought the same kit from Palmetto State for 169, had lots of problems and that 22 ammo is filthy.
I did a video review of it on my YouTube channel if anybody is interested.

I have one and it functions well. It is not going to be a target gun for you, but it will provide you with a lot of plinking and new shooter training pleasure. The advice above about running a few center fire rounds through it is good.

Synthgunner, checked out your video. Nice test. Yes, 22LR is very dirty, I have to stop and clean mine at about 100 rounds, less than 100 if I'm doing rapid fire. Standard velocity was problematic - failures to feed, and stovepipes. HV, such as CCI and Aquila worked fine. It hated my Winchester bulk, and I will never use Remington bulk again, in anything. Clogs everything in ten rounds or less. Otherwise, I'm happy with the CMMG, and all three mags.

FANTASTIC!
I just put my brand new Bravo Kit in my MP Sport2 this weekend, simply AMAZING! 100% reliability with all 3/25rd mags, shooting Federal Bulk pk, 36gr HP ammo. Haven't fired for accuracy yet, was just happy it's 100% reliable! I didn't lube, or do anything to kit, just dropped in and shot. BUY IT!

That's what I did. Never had a jam using CCI subsonic or SV ammo. Suppressed or un suppressed.
