M&P-15 Sport
This is my first post in the S&W Forum! And with that, I would like to share my prized possession in my safe, my M&P Sport. It is my prized possession because I bought this AR when I quite frankly did not have a lot of money, but I had always wanted an AR. I got it for $600 at a gun show. Now, I am a lot better off and so I have decided to tweak it a little bit. I added an OD Green Magpul CTR Stock, Magpul K2+ grip, M-LOK handguard with matching vertical grip. Since this was an original Sport, I changed the upper receiver for an Anderson upper with forward assist and dust cover. The one downside is the upper isn’t T-marked but that’s okay! Also changed the BCG for a Palmetto State Armory nickel plated BCG. Then, I added a BCM Gunfigher charging handle so that it’s lefty friendly. I also added a Battle Arms BAD-*** ambi safety selector (important to put blue thread lock on the safety selector). Finally, I added a KNS anti rotation pin set. I plan to add a Magpul MS1 sling in Ranger Green and Sig Sauer Romeo 5 once I have the money!
This AR has been 100% reliable and it is my go to for everything. I own a custom built Troy, but much prefer the Sport.

I ended up selling my M&P 15 Sport II and purchasing this guy. It’s an American Defense Manufacturing UIC Mod2. It has all the upgrades I was wanting to do to my Sport II straight from the factory. Geiselle trigger,Criterion barrel, Streamlight Protac HL-X, Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6 and lots more.

This is my first AR platform and could not be happier. Everything I have done to it includes the following:
Magpul MLOK forgrip
Magpul vertical grip
Caldwell bipod
Magpul buttstock
"ACOG" from Amazon... (Can't afford that Trijicon life...)
Anyways, that's my rifle. I love everything about it and only have the grip to change out. Bet you can't guess what I'm going to change it too... :P

Hi ladies and gents. Just got my sport 2 up to where I wanted it. When I first got it I took it to the range and got 100 rounds through it with no jams or problems. Zero'd my iron sights at 50 yards and had fun.
What I put on is
1. Soft rubber Ergo grip because I hate hard plastic grips.
2. Mission first tactical handgrip. Was a bit longer than the Magpul.
3. Magpul AFG grip just works with my ergonomics.
4. UTG BugBuster 3-9 illuminated scope and UTG one piece offset mount. Bought it for my .22 but was over kill so I have it to this.
Next thing I want is probably rubber on my buttstock or a new one. I don't really care as long as it works, a sling, and then maybe a suppressor hmmahahahahah!!!
Leaving the trigger stock because I shoot my M&P Shield allot and it reminds me of it.

M&P15 picture thread
Didnt stay stock for more than 30 mins lmao.
Smith & Wesson M&P Sport II OR
BCM VFG short mod 3
BCM GFH mod 3
BCM SOPMOD stock mod 0
MAGPUL PMAG Gen 3 w MAGPUL MAGLINK
Nikon P Tactical Spur red dot.
UTG 0.5” riser mount
First purchase into the AR world! I can honestly say without a shadow of a doubt the first thing that needs to go/get upgraded on an AR are the A2 grip and whatever stock it comes with if its not Magpul/BCM. I was going to go all Magpul furniture but decided to go with BCM and I have to say I am pleasantly surprised. The handgrip and stock are night and day in comparison to the factory pieces.
Dont mind the tape, was just eyeballing something. Next 2 upgrades are probably going to be a Radian charging handle and a free floating handguard and that is it for this bad boy. What I need to do is put some more range time in ASAP!

There's not much left of my 1st get M&P15T at this point (bottom carbine in the picture). The lower receiver, takedown pins (springs and detents), magazine release, bolt catch, fire control group (the stock trigger is the best mil spec AR trigger I've ever encountered), buffer spring, castle nut, the barrel nut, A2 flash hider, and the M&P branded Troy folding battle sights are all that remains.
The receiver extension is now a BCM 7075 aluminum unit.
The buffer is now a Spikes Tactical ST-2.
The receiver end plate is now a VLTOR SASE.
The safety is now a Battle Arms Development 45 degree ambi unit.
The charging handle is now a VLTOR/BCM Gunfighter Mod 4.
The upper receiver is now an Aero stripped upper with BCM parts.
The bolt carrier group is a Spikes Tactical FA unit.
The barrel is a FN pencil barrel, M249 machine gun steel, midlength gas, & double chrome lining.
The gas block BCM low profile unit, gas tube is from BCM.
The rail is a 12" Centurion Arms C4.
The butt stock is a B5 enhanced SOPMOD stock.
Pistol grip is a Magpul MIAD.
Forward vertical grip is a Magpul RVG.
Weapon light is a SureFire G2x.
Light mount is a VLTOR offset scout mount.
Optic is an Aimpoint T1, mounted on an American Defense QD riser mount.
Weight as equipped is 7 lbs, 9 oz.
The top carbine in the picture is almost completely the same as the bottom carbine with only a few differences:
Aero stripped lower receiver.
BCM lower parts kit.
ALG QMS fire control group.
FN modified lightweight profile barrel, otherwise barrel specs are the same as above.
VLTOR low profile gas block.
Front folding Troy Battle Sight has the H&K profile.
Weight as equipped is 7 lbs, 14 oz.

Updated pic, from about 8 years ago. Changed from 3x9 to red dot to save weight and faster target acquisition. 2nd pic shows more realistic color.

Sure wish I could post a pic of mine on here. But, alas, it's only a lowly Daniel Defense M4...… :-)

Just finished a couple upgrades. I've been using the iron sights and it shoots pretty good with them at 50 yards but my old eyes need a scope for longer ranges so I added one plus a bipod and butt pad. I haven't had a chance to try those out yet but the first halfway nice day I'm heading to the range.
Here's my AR at home with it's little brother the 15-22.

^^^^^^^^^
Just FYI: Your bipods are on bass-ackwards. The legs should be forward (towards the muzzle) when folded.

Agreed. Bipod folded to the front so the legs don't collapse on you during the recoil pulse and so you can put some pressure on the legs/feet for a more accurate shot.

Thanks guys. Didn't know that. Easy enough to fix.
Don't think the recoil pulse will ever be a problem on the 15-22 though.

Well, you do have a point on the recoil but the pressure on the legs for more accuracy portion still stands.

Not to mention that when in the prone position and you push the rifle forward, regardless of caliber, the legs can fold up and you end up with your muzzle (and face) in the dirt.

Here is my MP15 Sport II. I've had it about a month. I'm not done playing with add-on's or switching out stuff. Also have a Dickinson 12 Gauge Tactical shotgun.

Has anyone ever seen a flashlight forestock handle for a M&P 15 Sport II? I’ve seen them on higher priced units. I’m not sure sure if you can put one on the M&P 15. Thanks
