Default Sigma magazine springs

I just traded for two LEO marked Sigma magazines in .40 S&W. When I took them apart for cleaning I noticed that one of the magazine springs has some type of red or maroon coating (like a powder coat). All of the other Sigma magazines I have for both 9mm and .40 S&W have a blue coating. Does anyone know what the significance of the red vs the blue coating is? Is one stock power and the other extra power? Were the SV40F magazine springs different color? Any ideas? Because they are LEO only marked they are probably from the mid 1990's when the high capacity magazine ban was in effect. The wierd thing is both are LEO marked but one is blue and one is red.

Another observation is that the red spring tapers earlier (much like a single stack magazine) compared to the blue springs.

Hmmm... my LEO marked 9mm F mags all have blue springs and all my VE mags are just plain gray springs.

Weird

MY 9mm mags are blue both f and ve , and the 40s are red. I don't know of any extra power springs. The part number is the same for 14 and 15 rnd 40 mags.

Just pulled the springs out of my VE mags and they have blue bottoms unlike the F mags that are blue the entire length of the spring.

From the sounds of things, blue are 9mm and red are .40

I would venture a guess that you have a 9mm spring in one of your mags.

I took mine apart the other day Both were powder blue. Noticed though one spring had the blue at the bottom the other was near the top.
