Default Another glock vs Sigma

I just love information so please no beatings.

Kywetjoe posted in another thread that the change S&W made to the sigma was

"remove the surface located below the sear in the Sigma Series Pistols, which Glock contends is a positive guide means"

Im curiuos .. what does that mean .. does anyone have a pic of the part the glock had that the sigma had to give up. I'd really be interested in seeing that. Any thoughts on the part that was lost .. what was the benefit of having it that glock fought to keep it and S&W thought the pistol could live without? What did it do in English

I've never been able to ascertain what the details of the lawsuit and the resulting settlement were. All the i've information i've found in my research points to exactely what you posted, something about the area below the sear. But what exactely are they refering to when they call it a "sear". Legalese and actual terminology are not usually the same.

A former (?) member here a few years back seemed to be quite knowlegable about the lawsuit and he indicated that it was a modification to the slide. His posts here on this forum seemed to have disapeared but heres one from the firingline forum that also talks about the lawsuit.

I always thought it was the sear assembly as well that they changed. Someone chime in on this because I don't own one but isn't the trigger on the 1st gen sigma alot lighter and smoother to pull? I may be wrong.

The first generation sigma was produced until 1999 though. The lawsuit was settled in 1997.

What we need is detailed pictures of a pre-lawsuit pistol, a post lawsuit pistol and the new post 1999 design.

Thats really the only way to figure out what exactely was changed, other than hearing from SW themselves.
