Sigma 9mm Questions UPDATE

I was at a gun show this weekend and several dealers had Sigma 9mms for $319.00.

One dealer told me Sigmas are decent guns, but don't have very good triggers - heavy pull wnd a long reset.

I would appreciate some opinions form actual Sigma owners.

OK - I bought one today. Trigger seems better than I expected. I will shoot it on Thursday. Thanks for all the input.

My Sigma has been a good gun. Only about 500 rounds thru it so far and no problems. I dry fired it about 1,000 times and the trigger smoothed out nicely. If you are familiar with a DA revolver trigger pull then you will be ok with the Sigma trigger. I like the Sigma trigger better than the M&P trigger. As for the long reset, yeah I guess it's long but once you get used to it you will be fine. It's not a target gun but it shoots accurately enough for what it is designed to be.

I have the .40 version of this weapon and really like it. The trigger pull is the only complaint I've heard about pertaining to this gun. I think it's in the neighborhood of 12 lbs. rom what I've read S&W made it this way due to PD's requesting a weapon that couldn't be fired accidentally. As the above poster said, dry firing does help. I use mine as my everyday carry. Hope this helps.

I don't think there's a better bargain out there. I picked up the SW40VE a couple of weeks ago just because of the rebate/free mag deal, and I like it.

I carried a Sigma for three years...traded it in on a M&P when they came out with a 9 Compact. It's a great gun for the money. Never had one failure of any kind. The trigger gets better after time. The light rail isn't standard, but there are lights that will fit it. S&W has a Rebate/Mag Offer on right now until April 30th. You might be able to shop around and find a better price.

Do you mean they are out there for less than $319.00? I thought that was a pretty good price.

Within the last couple of months Bud's and Academy have had them for $299 plus the S&W $50/2 mag rebate.

Great gun for the money.

Just call S&W, tell them your trigger is "rough", not "stiff".

They'll email a prepaid postage label, smooth the trigger, and ship it back to you on their dime within two weeks.

Best customer service I've ever experienced.

They've done three of them from me so far.

I don't know what the going rate is...just looked at Cabela's ($379.00) and Bud's Guns ($356.00), so $319.00 would be a good deal, especially with the rebate. Those prices were for the Two-tone model, the Brushed Stainless was about $70.00 more. If you have a Sportsman's Warehouse or Big 5 Sporting Goods close to you, you could check there as well.

You should check the S&W web site and choose the exact model you prefer. They come in different colors and all black and two Mag capacities...10 or 16 rounds. Price should be the same for either sized Mag.

Bud's is currently out of Sigma's and you can bet the price will be a little higher when they get more. Rest assured, for $300. after the rebate you struck gold. Hell, for $350. there is nothing out there to compare! The 9VE was Bud's 2009 best seller and the 40VE was third. I have two and they are 100%.

I never miss a opportunity to say something nice about the Sigma. I had a SW9VE which I sold to my son in law for home protection (too cheap). Never any kind of failure with over 2000 rounds through it and much dry firing.
The trigger is designed (about like a double action revolver) as a self defense gun not a fun at the range gun, although I always enjoyed shooting it. Great ergonomics, dependable, inexpensive, and accurate. All with a great life time warranty from S & W. What's not to like.
As already mentioned, Buds has good prices. I bought mine at Academy (Plano, Tx) but don't remember what I paid for it. Academy has good prices if they happen to have what you want, they don't special order. And take advantage of S & W's rebate deal.
I still miss that gun!!

Best deal out there. A couple of places around here, Acadamy and a local sporting goods store have had them recently for $299. before rebate. $319 is a good price. I have the 9VE and it has been flawless. The trigger is heavy and long, but if you have ever shot DA revolvers it won't be a problem. I think people just like to complain because it isn't a tuned 1911.

I bought my sigma .40 slightly used (500-600) rounds thru it and have loved it during the short time I've owned it. I knew a guy who knew the previous owner so I knew what I was getting. The trigger on this has been no problem for me what-so-ever, though you may want to at least dry fire one to see if it's something you're comfortable with. You'll have an idea what the trigger is like after a quick dry fire. No problems with the gun and I've now put 300+ rounds thru it myself. I found that it fit my hand perfectly, nice groups for my skill level (3in groups at 20yds). I'm completely happy with mine. I think the $300ish price is great for this gun.

I think the new Sigmas are great pistols, especially for the money. Mine was $299 at Bud's with a $50 rebate. Where else are you going to get a brand new Hi-cap 9mm for $249. I have about 400 rounds of ball and various HP's through it without one problem of any kind. It's at least as accurate as my Sigs for 1/3 the price. I wasn't crazy about the trigger when new, but a trip back to S&W solved that for free.

Last month I got a craving for a 45, and would have bought a Sigma in a heartbeat if they made one. Instead, I got a 24/7c Pro, which is also a great gun, but was more expensive.

Buy one. I practically guarantee you won't regret it.

Mine just back from S&W warranty (great service)- was shooting a little high and right, two jams in 140 rounds. Could have been cheap ammo or a mag- the two that came with the gun were diff in spring tension. Trigger pull still like a DA revolver but about 2lbs lighter. Shooting straight. I would buy another.

A little better quality control up front in manufacturing I would think would be cheaper than "backdoor" warranty work S&W is doing. But what do I know, I'm in medicine.

I don't mind the heavy trigger, especially since it doesn't have a safety.
