Default sigma rebate question

Hey guys, I bought my sigma over a month ago and finally decided to send in the rebate. How should I go about doing this? I put the card saying what I want (mags/money) along with my reciept with date of purchase and my serial number written on the rebate card? Where is the serial number located? Also, with the reciept and card, just put it in an envelope and send it to the address on the rebate card? Honestly I haven't ever mailed anything out before lol... Anyways, if you guys can help me out I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

-Billy

Oh and btw, only 250 rounds through it so far (and it's my first gun ever) with not a single problem (incase you were curious).

Serial number is on the body of the pistol, under the barrel. Just fill out the card completely, and mail it in. Probably wise to make a photocopy of your receipt and mail that instead of the original.

Send a copy of the receipt, not the original. It took about 6 weeks over the holidays to get the new mags. Personally, I think the mags are the better deal.

I mailed in the rebate the last week in Dec. I just received an e-mail that my mags were mailed. I should have them tommorrow or Thursday. I too think the rebate for the 2 mags is a much, much better deal. Take the $50 and go shopping for mags, and you only have enough money for one!

I don't care if they were giving away a sack full of magazines the $50 back saved my life since I went to get boots and came home with a gun again.

Suggestion for the envelopes on rebates (I'm a tech for the PO, see it done wrong all the time):

1. Print clearly! I'm amazed at the ****** job a lot of people do. You want it to get there, so make it easy to read. Better yet, run envelope thru your printer.

2. Don't write on the bottom 1/2" on the front of the envelope. When mailpiece gets into the system, it gets a barcode printed on the front. You write on the bottom front, you interfere with the print area, machines can't read it, mail might have to be handled manually, get delayed.

3. Put Scotch tape on the leading and trailing edges for reinforcement. > 99% of mail processing is automated. All machines that handle letter mail have strippers where the mail is inducted into the feeders of the machines. Strippers can sometimes tear the edge that goes in 1st, mail gets goobered. Only happens once in many thousands of letters, but if it's your rebate... hasta la vista rebate!

4. Tape down any flap that isn't glued down after you make with the licking. Envelopes have to make twists & turns as they go thru the machines. That can lift any unsecured flap, and if it happens to be going by a diverter when it does, flap will catch, nasty jam, your mailpiece gets trashed.

5. No lumpy mail! So many people will stick a chunk of cardboard in a letter (e.g. proof of purchase), just begging to get jammed in a machine. Peel off the surface layer with the printing on it you need and staple it to your rebate form. Doesn't apply to this rebate, but just for general knowledge.

6. If it's a big rebate, like for a computer, send it in a small priority mail envelope, w/return receipt. Priority mail is mostly hand processed, if it's a large rebate, worth the few bucks. Stick the rebate in a regular envelope, stamped/prepped as above, in case priority mail envelope does get goobered, the regular one inside will soldier on.

I'm still amazed at the job the processing machines do handling the mail. Blazing speed, banks of computers reading the addys, directing it locally/nationally, sending info ahead to where it will go if outgoing, automatically intercepting/redirecting mail for people who have filed a change of address and sending it to new addy, etc.

But I also pull out thoroughly trashed mailpieces from the machines every night, such is the reality of automation. So you want to try and make your envelope as automation friendly as possible so you get your rebate joy, and as soon as possible.

Put my Sigma rebate in the mail earlier this week, hope the Gomers at the PO don't goober it up.

I'm afraid mine didn't make it at all. I sent it in around 6 weeks ago yet the online rebate system has no record of my name.

My name never showed up on the site until a few days before I received my clips, and like I said, it was around 6 weeks.

I checked on the status of my rebate. I sent it in around the middle of January. The website says it was entered into the system on the 5th of February. Yet I have no check yet.

Well, I'm not sure who is in such a sad state of affairs, but this is pretty much BS and, for me, it reflects poorly on S&W. So much so that I've changed my mind about purchasing an M&P. I hate it, because I really thought I wanted one.

I've always hated rebates and usually avoid them like the plague, but went with this one, because I really thought S&W was a reputable company. Well, IMHO, reputable companies don't hire fly by night companies like this bogus rebate processor to handle their business. Furthermore, I can guarantee you that this rebate company is as worthless as tits on a boar.

I bought my Sigma on Jan 4th and mailed my rebate on Jan 5th. Around the end of Feb, I called the company and they said they couldn't find it. Not what I wanted to hear, but before I could go to the trouble to resubmit it, it mysteriously showed up on their rinky dink website and amazingly was posted on Jan 31st. Well, here it is March 10th and it appears to be just sitting there with no activity at all. Certainly doesn't say it's been shipped.

Although I assume someone will eventually get around to mailing it, I'll never deal with a S&W rebate again. Simply not worth all the BS. I like the gun, but if I ever buy another S&W, it'll most likely be used. I hope my disgust doesn't rub off on other S&W fans, but I suspect I'm not alone. I'm not sure who's more bogus here, S&W or their rebate agent, but they really should look into this. It's certainly left a bad taste in my mouth.

8 to10 weeks my eye, try 13 or 14+.

I just bought an M&P an am sending my rebate in this weekend. The rebate didn't make my mind up the pistol did. The way I look at it is I woulda bought it either way but 2 free magazines is a bonus. If it takes a few months so be it. I already ordered 2 others any way.

I couldn't agree with you more, I sent my form in the 28th of December. I thought well with the holidays and such it should be in before the end of February. Well it is now the 11th of March and I have yet to see anything. I call and they said that is has been processed I looked online and sure enough on the 15th of January it was but no ship date or anything poor business practice on their part. I was also thinking of an M&P but my mind is now made up I am going with a Glock.

Same here. Calling them is like calling God himself. I actually get more useful info from him than I'm likely to get from those bogus people. I see some smarty said the rebate didn't mean anything to him, since the M&P was such a nice piece. Well, I've always thought it was about $50 too doggoned expensive, so I, too, will be buying a Glock 26. It was a close race, until I figured out how bogus these rebates are. Sure hope S&W doesn't miss my meager business, but I'm afraid they've lost me. Shame, too, because I really do prefer their products. They were always first on my list, but I guess I'll be shopping out of the country now.

You know, it really is a shame. I found a dealer who had 9mm M&Pcs NIB for $450, before transfer fees and shipping to my FFL. It was pretty much a done deal until I ran across this obstacle. Now, I guess I'll be paying another couple of hundred bucks to deal with a known reputable company. That's OK, though, because I know all you fanboys will stand by these people, no matter what. I'm sorry, but integrety is worth much more than that to me. I'll absolutely never buy another new S&W product, period. I don't like playing games with bogus entities and as far as I'm concerned S&W is bogus as hell.

They really do need to address this. If it's gonna take 6 months, just say so. We all know times are hard, but don't promise something you can't deliver and then lay it off on the bogus company you hired in the first place. I know darned well that our rebates would have already been sent, if there was any cash in the account. It ain't that hard to figure out.

Default SW9VE Rebate Paperwork not in box

Hey Guys,
I purchased my SW9VE from a dealer at a gun show, I am now waiting the 10 day period in California to recieve it. I talked to the guy (dealer) today and he said he didn't have any idea about the paper work for the rebate and that it was probably something that I could get online. Is he just blowing smoke, as I get the feeling, or is it something that I can get online. Thanks

You would figure S&W would handle this in house instead of delegating to another company. I would think S*W has the resources to do so.

I was disappointed yet again at the mailbox today. Figures.

The dealer is supposed to give you the rebate form. At least I think that is what is supposed to happen as I got mine from the dealer. However you can download the coupon here:

I have to agree that such a great pistol at a great price should be enough...but no Smith and Wesson throws in a lifetime warranty and a rebate for two magazines or $50 which ever you prefer.

Patience is the key here....If there is a problem, they will make it right....they always do. We won't allow you to leave unhappy....who's we? Smith and Wesson!

I was disappointed yet again at the mailbox today. Figures.
Administration of a rebate program is usually handled outside of a company. The reason being, more than likely they do not have the staff to do it. You have to figure how many are sold, verification of the rebate info, and cutting the checks or sending the mags. If S&W had to do it, they would have to hire the people or take them away from other jobs. And it would probably take even longer to get your check/mags. That's not what S&W does. They manufacture weapons. Rebate administration companies do it better, faster and easier than S&W could.

I just checked the rebate site and it shows my rebate. It was received on 2/19, that's about a week after I mailed it. So that makes it just under 5 weeks for them to receive it and post it into the system.

Well, mine had it's 10 week aniversary today and it's still just sitting in limbo. Posted as recieved on 1/31 around the end of February, which I found strange, since the customer service rep said they hadn't recieved anything the day before it posted. I was relieved to see it finally get posted, but it sure seems stuck in a rut now. Trying to be patient, but they are trying my patience a bit. I guess it'll come sooner or later, but this company certainly seems below par. I guess that's to be expected, though, because I don't believe I've ever had a good experience with any rebate companies. Out of hundreds of rebates, Dell and Microsoft are the only ones I've found that handled them decently.

I'd still like to buy an M&P before that rebate expires, but I need this one in hand to make that purchase. Shame I can't just apply this rebate to the new gun. Hell, it's a shame I can't apply both rebates to the new gun. If I could, I'd already have it. Already missed a nice sale. Oh well, good things come to those who wait. I think I'll wait for this rebate and another sale to come along and hope both come before May.

Rmcky - I got an email from the guys doing the rebate to wait 8 to 10 weeks. If you don't get yours soon I would call or email them.

Thanks Kona, I will. Only problem with calling them is, I got the impression that the only thing they have to check is the same online form we have access to. When I last called, she asked the exact same questions as asked on the form, then she simply said they hadn't recieved it. That was a couple of months after I mailed it, so I asked what I needed to do. She said I should resubmit it, which I was preparing to do the next day, when it mysteriously appeared on the website, dated as recieved a month earlier. Her attitude towards customer service appeared to be, play stupid and this guy will go away, since she did absolutely no research beyond checking the website. The entire phone call lasted less than three minutes, with no attempt at any solution. Sounds like this rebate processer may very well be in over their heads. I'll wait a couple of more weeks and then contact S&W. Hopefully, they'll care a little more about it.

Another week with no rebate. This makes 9 weeks. 12 since I mailed off the rebate form. 9 since the rebate website said it was received.

Just checked on mine, FINALLY says that it was received and validated... I guess now the wait to actually get it back starts? I chose the $50.00 rebate because I got the two mags with it, bought one off Gunbroker, then won another auction on there for buy one get one free and no one else bid, so got the pair for the opening bid of $37.00 shipped! Five mags is enough, I think, at least for the present time.

Hopefully, that's good news for me, too. Mailed mine on Jan 5th. Posted as validated 1/31. Shipping date still open, but I have high hopes of seeing it very soon. Did send them an E-mail last Friday evening, but haven't heard back from them yet. Hopefully, I'll have the check in my hand first and won't have to depend on their ineptness.

I believe I mailed mine on February 22, and now that I've checked the website today it shows "Valid Submission Received" on February 26. I'll post when I actually receive them.

I sent mine in around Feb 16th and it shows the entry date as Feb 26, 2010. So hopefully it will arrive soon.

edit: I just noticed under quantity on the rebate website it says [9 MM 16 RD MAG $0.00 Quantity 1]. Does this just mean 1 rebate or am I only getting 1 magazine?

I sure hope not, cause that's what it says for me too. Expecting two!

Default Whata bunch of worthless ***'s

Here's their reply to my e-mail inquiry:

Thank you for your request. Please allow 10 weeks from the entry date of
January 31, 2010 for processing.
Have a good day.

MPS/Customer Service

S&W, this **** suks! You folks need to fire this bunch and hire someone who's capable of taking care of your business in a reasonable manner. This is absolutely unacceptable. It's already been 11 weeks and now they want me to wait another month. I'm afraid you've made your last sale to this idiot who was lured in by your rebate offer. Additionally, I intend to notify anyone I can find about this BS. If this is the best you can do, it's really sad. What a joke! A bad one, at that.

I look at it like this, "When I get it, I get it." I am old enough to not get upset at things anymore. I bought my new Sigma for the gun alone. The rebate was an after thought. If I had only bought it for the money or 2 free mags, that doesn't say a whole lot about the product. Give it time.....Remember, "Good things come to he who waits."
