Default Adjusting rear Sigma sight

Hello all. I purchased a new .40 Sigma last weekend and after two trips to the range, noticed that the rear sight seems to be off. If I aim along the left edge of the target, I can hit along the middle of the target consistently (vertical accuracy is a different story). The manual (page 24) mentions a set screw, but I don't see one. Is adjusting the rear sight as simple as giving it a good whack with a plastic punch and a hammer? Thanks in advance!

You are correct in your thinking, but it doesn't take even a good whack to move the sight.Tap easy and pay attention to sight base to slide position.

Thanks. I'll give it a try. Hopefully I can head to the range for a test run this week.

I finally had the chance to hit the range yesterday. Approaching 200 rounds through it so far and I enjoy shooting the Sigma more and more each time. I adjusted the site a bit and it definitely helped. Now I just need to work on my shooting too low. It may simply be my inexperience with the gun, but I'm very tempted to replace the front sight per the instructions in the other post on this forum. I do plan to add a laser sight at some point, so is there any point in replacing the front sight?

I was shooting low also. But I was aiming @6 o'clock instead of holding the front sight right on the bullseye.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll probably simply give it a few more trips to the range before I mess with anything. Probably just "user error". Thanks!

Drifting the rear sight fixed the windage, shooting a little higher fixed the elevation for me. I understand different bullet weights affect elevation.

i have a sw40ve i found that with the factory trigger you will tend to shoot low but if you do the trigger mod which brings it from a 10lb trigger down to around 5lb trigger you will probably shoot better. the sw40ve is a great and reliable gun the only problem it has is a heavy trigger.
