Default Sigma bashing

Howdy.
Below is an attempted Sigma bash and the reply that I gave. What do 'ya think?

Well, I own a Sigma in 40 S&W and since buying it back in February, I have 1350 failure free rounds through it (150 SD ammo). After 400 rounds I started carrying it every day. It did have to prove itself after all. It has a factory stock trigger. The trigger is a long pull on purpose. It is designed to only go off intentionally. It is pretty hard to accidently pull a 10#-12# trigger. I have gotten to the point where I can most times put 8-10 rounds in 3.5" to 4.5" at 30' which isn't bad. Yes, there are fliers every so many groups, who doesn't have them? With practice, anybody can get good with that gun and trigger. It does help to be familiar with DA revolvers, but only if you shoot them that way. A lot of revo shooters only shoot them SA, I did when I started with them years ago. Now, it's only DA for me as I like to practice trigger control. In addition to the 1350 actual rounds fired from my Sigma, I have approximately 550-600 dry fires too, which helped to get used to as well as break in the trigger. It does ease up a bit after a few hundred cycles.
The fact that you can get a U.S. made, 100% reliable pistol for $300 is a little embarrassing to some that have spent hundreds more for a gun that they end up spending even more on to "customize" and make "better". The Sigma needs nothing to do it's job very well.

Sounds pretty good to me. I share your thoughts on it being good at what it does right out of the box. Nice job.

Excellent!

I run into bashers all the time over at the haters capitol of the world, the firingline.com.

As I've said over and over again; I just shake my head when I read the negative things that the keyboard cowboys post, everytime I watch my girls shoot the sigma.

Maybe I got one made by Clint Eastwood himself; I don't know, but it sure is fun to shoot.

Great job! This part is the part I like best. You have flip that and say ''If you do your part, your Sigma will to". Wait, you can't use that. Its going to be my new line.

Hi,

Most people bash Sigmas simply because they have never owned them and go by what other people say. Usually people that bash Sigma don't have much if any experience in shooting double action only. The people that do like Sigmas have experience in shooting double action revolvers. To get good at shooting double action trigger control is the key. Lastly, some people get jealous at the range when I shoot my SW40VE better than they shoot their $500 to $700 wonder semi-autos. I paid $300 out the door for mine. I have no trigger work other than dry firing the Sigma many times. I have not had one FTF and I use Wal-Mart ammo.

Maybe some people should learn to shoot their guns instead bashing other people for not having the high dollar weapon.

Regards,
roaddog28

I had a Sigma years back and loved it. I sold it several years ago, and wish I still had it. It was the AK47 of hanguns..... "it went bang everytime". Additionally it was exceptionally accurate. My brother carry's his every single day, and can out shoot anyone I know with it, even those people toating thousand dollar guns. I just shake my head at bashers!

I understand the Sigma bashers. And agree with some of it. Imean come on,,, every Sigma I've ever shot and worked on the trigger was very darn gritty. Forget the over all travel, reset and weight. They have all felt like somebody at the factory through S&W magic gritty dust in them. Heck my new M&P .45 started out clean. But withing 500 rounds the magic gritty dust showed up.

With that said I will be getting a M&P 9mm Pro. And won't even mess with SD. I have my Sigma. And over all I like it. And honestly my poor PF-9 has a better over all trigger than the Sigma. Go figure that out. LMAO.

Bottom Line: I just let the bashers and ranters go on about the Sigma's. If they want to shoot one thats been worked over and shoots good they are more than welcome to shoot mine. If they like it. I explain very basic trigger work on the pistol and why it functions like it does. If there still interested I pop the barrel out and let them look down the perfect pipe it has. The egro's are very good. And it will hit what it's aimed at if the shooter does there part.

I never bothered to get a trigger job done before I made my Sigma my EDC gun. I've dry fired a few thousand times, but that's all.

It's not important to me rather someone else likes it or not.

Lee it's one thing to support Sigma. And it's another to suggest it contends with others in the next bracket. $ to $ it's a interesting firearm. And a heck of a buy if bought right. But even within S&W's on line up. It's not a M&P. No where close. And that CZ is!

I really like my old CZ-52. It's my fav. pistol bar none!

I don't care if people like or dislike my life choices. I am independent of the good or bad opinion of others. I have a Mark II High Standard Sentinel .357 [bought 40+ years ago], a SW40VE, and a Ruger SR9c. I love all of them, yet none are high dollar premium handguns. They all go bang when I pull the trigger. Have to admit that I am more accurate with the .357 in DA or SA, but I have been shooting it for more than 40 years.

I have two Hi Point semi-autos, the C9 Comp 9mm and the JCP .40 of you want to see some pistols that get bashed, lol... the funny thing is that after a bit of magazine tweaking they work just as well as any other semi-auto that I have ever owned and a lot better than most. And at 35 ounces each, if I run out of ammo they are as good as a brick to beat someone with! I don't pay any more attention to the Sigma bashers than I do my ex-wife...

leejack, thanks again for the invite to this cool forum about the Sigma, aaaaa braa ba daa these bashers they are everywhere some are actual owners who either dont know how to shoot the gun or just hate the gawwwd awful 76 pound trigger pull and of course the ones that dont own them right? Sucks bad the early Sigmas had problems and again some where probably to lazy to mail the gun in for warranty work or again not owning one. Also sucks with glock, but the Sigma 9 and 40 VE are not glock carbon at all. S&W makes beautiful proven guns, the Sigma is one of them. Wish the 9 and 40 VE where sold in pairs. lara croft style, that would be cool.

Nowhere did I say that the sigma was better than the CZ, nowhere! I simply pointed out that the sigma is a good gun; that's all.

I spend allot of time in different forums and that one is good in that it has allot of members, but at the same time there are tons of bashers there. They put others down all the time.

I know that the CZ's are great guns, never said anything to the contrary; but I'll be damned if I'm going to put up with others putting me and mine down.

Once again; I never said that the sigma was as good or better than the CZ.

Mine favorite gun is my American Made Ruger Blackhawk; bar none!

I'm kind of close to getting a Sigma,I need a 9MM in my collection as I sold off the rest and my P1 is down for repairs (cracked the locking block) so the Sigma looks good for the price.

As to the bashing,it's like the Mini-14,some of the older versions had some definite problems but the factory has ironed them out, does that stop those who hate the thing? no in their narrow vision it's still the Antichrist of guns and should be driven away with holy water!

Those who take a chance and try it get the good stuff and leave the haters in the dust

I have both a CZ-75B and a Sigma. You can't compare apples to oranges. My CZ is a great weapon. So is my Sigma. They both do some things well. But they are so different in what they do.. The CZ is DA/SA. The Sigma is not. The Sigma is DOA and has a poly frame. The CZ doesn't... The CZ has a lighter DA trigger pull. But is VERY light, almost too light, in SA. The CZ has a safety, the Sigma doesn't. That gives the Sigma an edge on draw and fire. You don't have to remember the safety.

For CC I prefer the Sigma. For open carry, the CZ. And that's due to size. But I have carried the CZ concealed.

And yes, I'm a fan boy of both. Just don't ask me to pick a favorite. Each is a favorite is some way. It just depends on the situation.

All time favorite.. My Citori 625 Sporting shotgun. I'm just sporting clay guy at heart.

And Blastfact, your CZ-52 is a great looking weapon. I'm searching for one to add to my collection.

My brother owns a glock 22, lovesssss it!! I own a Sigma 40 i lovesssss it to. The Sigma name cleaned itself up really nice with the improved VE versions. What i dont want to see is the Sigma line discountinued or at the least the name. We own a great *** gun folks, we scored on our buys and i am for sure buying another 40 VE if they keep the price and rebates the same. I have heard way, way to many good on this gun than bad and its only because of the name and the early edition ones which are not even as bad. I think people freaked out when S&W made a semi auto pistol really? o and the glock debacle?? leejack? why arent you a mod for this site? you bring good info here and on other sites and its good you are here, you are a valuable member and you deserve it and you have my vote for sure.

I don't know about being a mod, but I'd sure like to thank you for your kind words.

As far as gun forums go, the "sigma club" is one of the most friendly places around; I'm glad to be a member.

Best wishes,

Lee
