Default Gun Show prices

I got to go to the gun show today and was shocked at the prices for the guns. The SW9GVE that I purchased on Labor Day weekend at a local store was 299 not includeing the 50 rebate. The SW9VE at the gun show was 399 with no mention of a rebate. The prices of used guns were almost as much as new at local dealers.Even reloaded ammo was higher than factory ammo at Walmart. If not for a good deal that I found on a holster for my SW9GVE the day would have been a total waste of time.

Gun show and store are 2 different things. Gun show prices are sky high. Last time I went to a gun show all I got was a 100 pack of targets for 5 bucks.

It is an area thing i guess. Any time i plan on buying a gun I hold out till the next gunshow cause it always has better prices than my local dealers.

Years ago, gun shows were the place to buy anything and everything for a good price.

Now, they are an outrage!

As we say in south Texas they are "wurtless"!

That's good to here.

The only reason I go to gun shows is if I'm going for a new gun. It's the best place to handle lots of guns to decide which one I want. Then go and find the best price somewhere else.

I go to gun shows to pick up brass, accessories, etc. In these parts you'd think that everybody with a table was pricing like they expected to see Billy Bob after he won the lottery.

Well, if you were the SELLER you would say it would be a total waste of your time to drive to the show, pay cash money for the table(s), set up your goods, and then sit around all day watching people check out your goods, answer their questions and finally, maybe, sell something for what it cost you. You would not be there to offer them 'deals' but you would be there to to make some money, right?

Gun shows are about basic commerce; one party offers to sell, the other accepts or rejects the offer. Then, either party may make a counter offer, called Negotiating. If you don't think the gun is worth $399, offer $325 or $300, and be ready to buy if the price is right.

Think "Deal, or No Deal"

Best price on ammo I've found recently wasn't at a gun show. Walmart has 9mm Luger Remington UMC Mega Pack for $52.00. (250ct) If anybody finds a better price, please pass the info along. Thanks.

The Federal 9mm @ Walmart is roughly the same price if you can't find the UMC Mega Pack...or just don't have $50 to drop on ammo.

I believe it's $10.47 a box, which works out to $52.35 for 250rds. I try to pick up a box or two whenever I'm forced to hit the local WM.

I was going to gun showes and searching on line for a Dan Wesson .357 in excellent condition. I just came accross one when I wasn't expecting it at a local gun shop. I couldn't let this one get away. It only came with a 6" barrel so now I'll be back at the shows to find the matching 2,4 and 8" barrels. Plus a Dan Wesson shooter. The one I bought was an early model in original box and sleeve, never fired in pristine condition.

gunshows can be worth it if you shop around and haggle. i haggled my xd40 down from 500 flat to 400 after showing him the price online. (it was 375 shipped + ffl). most of the prices are ridiculous, people were selling sigmas for 400 + you had to pay your own background check which is like 10 bucks.

Default 9mm ammo

I just bought 250 rounds of S&B 9mm 115 grain FMJ from Cabela's on line for $45.00. Had it shipped to the store and picked it up. Zero postage, zero shipping, zero handling.

There are still good deals to be had at gun shows. Here are a few examples from a small show I attended this past week end. I stick to the S&Ws:

A 625 Md of 1989 in excellent condition my friend bought for $350. He also picked up a 10 shot 617, 4 inch for $400...not a bad deal. Another good deal was an excellent condition 8 3/8 inch 17-3 for $375.

Good deals all.....

Dennis.

I usually go to gun shows to find obscure things that don't show up in gun shops. This would be items like Fiocchi 7.62 Nagant or 7.63 Mauser ammo. Also some Fiocchi and Magtech 32 S&W Long FMJ rounds.

I have also purchased hard to find magazines for my Browning T-Bolt (before Browning re-introduced the rifle a couple of years ago). I haggle for all of these things.

I have seen some good deals on guns there too, but most of them are out of sight on the asking price.

Gene, that's right in the ball park of what I spend. Maybe a few bucks more.
