Default Washington State Patrol Sigma??

I was told today in a gun shop that they saw a Washington State Patrol Sigma and it was marked. I am pretty sure Mississippi Highway Patol and Tenn. Highway Patrol had them for a very short time but this is the first time I have heard of Washington. Any one else heard this? thank you.

Niagra Falls PD also issued them. Some departments do have this thing called "a budget" and follow them, thus they issue Sigma's usually.

Remember the Sigma was intended to replace the .38 Revolver and has a similar trigger pull. Some folks, like my wife, prefer a long firm trigger for defense.

Who likes the trigger on his SWaMPy 9c just fine.

Trust me i undestand about an agency budget. But i was wondering about it ever being issued to Washington State Patrol? I made contact with a Trooper there and they advised me Troopers never carried that weapon. He said it might have been something issued to beverage control or the fire marshal's but not to a Trooper. He said thats why it might have their markings.

Their issued weapons for more than a decade:
Beretta 92
HK USP40
M&P 40 (current)

Can't say 100% that the Sigma was not issued but would eat a plate of stewed crows if it was....

Seattle is correct...
I too work for the State of Washington as a PO and we carry the M&P 9MM, and pervious to that it was the H&K compact 9.
I imagine WSP carries the M&P in a 40 or 45...
DOC is still trying to catch up to the industry standard.

That Sigma may have been one of the imported Western Australia (which is a state in Australia) used handguns. I owned one in .40 S&W about 10 or 12 years back. The serial number even started with WA.

The state crest on the slide was not very deep but showed two kangaroos facing each other, IIRC. I rather wish I had been able to retain that one in my collection. I sold it here in Washington State and do wonder how much confusion it has caused in all the years since.

The trigger pull was better than that of the Gen 1 Glock 17 I had available for comparison, and I've wondered if that Sigma was one of the early ones with the design that caused Glock to sue S&W.
