Default help with relieving creep?

hi everyone, this is my first thread. i love the site, a lot of useful information. Ive personally done a lot of work to take my sw9ve from what it was to being an awesome gun to shoot, that in my, and many others opinions is better than many high end 9mm pistols. the long list of mods include:
smoothing and polishing all internal contact points(including sear and plastic sear block)
removing pigtail spring and replacing outer sear spring with mechanical pencil spring.
Stretching all springs(except striker) and trimming-trigger return, and both sear springs.
welding up and reshaping the rear portion of the trigger connector to alleviate creep.
installing a trigger stop behind the trigger to alleviate over travel.
"bedding" the front of the slide to the dust cover.
adding a "beavertail to improve grip and contact area.
added a houge grip to improve grip.
All the mods have turned my entry level pistol into a serious competitor, but there is one thing that really bugs me about the trigger and that is how much creep there is still left. I know that reducing the height of the sear portion of the striker will fix this i just don't know how adversely this will affect the striking of the primer. i replaced the striker spring with the wolff one but put the factory one back after one trip to the range. has anyone heard of or does anyone know someone who has done this sear mod and how well did it work for them. if this does work i also plan on increasing the height of my trigger stop to take up the rest of the overtravel. thank you for all your help. p.s. if anyone has any questions about my mods or wants to see any pics email me @ [email protected]

Welcome to the sigma club! Glad you joined.

Just curious, what does a mechanical pencil spring do in a gun?

Mine is stock and works just fine.

Best wishes!

The only way to reduce creep is a custom trigger bar that shortens the original pull. It has many adverse effects including adding weight to the pull. You can "cut" the striker where it contacts the sear so that it releases the striker sooner but you also reduce the striker force and can end up with light primer hits and failures to fire. In the end none of these were acceptable to me and I put mine back to stock before giving it to my dad to use as his every day carry.

My SW9VE is stock. It's going to stay that way. Trigger is not a problem. Yes, I'll buy other handguns, but my Sigma stays the way it came from the factory.

mechanical pencil spring replaces outter spring in the sear block and lightens trigger pull.

Midway USA. has what you are looking for. Unless you plan on shooting 500+ rounds I'm gonna recommend you don't. I test fired mine about 700 rounds and had about 60 light hits and about 10 that made no mark. After the first 100 I thought it was great but I had 750 rounds and was going to be sure it was ok to carry I figured it better have 0 failures. Boy was I wrong. After putting it back to factory I put another 1500 rounds through it with 0 failures, about the same as before the mods. If you can't afford to test it thoroughly then I recommend against it.

My definition of 'creep' is roughness or 'glitchyness' in the stroke of the trigger, irrespective of the distance it must travel to fire the piece. The way to address this in the VE series, at least, is to polish the interacting moving components; particularly the rear face of the sear which rides against the polymer frame as it cams down and away from striker sear.

I don't tinker with springs.

Definition for "trigger creep" : The perceptable movement of the trigger prior to the release of the firing pin or striker. Creep is a negative influence on accuracy as this movement of the trigger can also cause movement of the firearm. Also known as "military creep" due to its prevelance among non-sniper military firearms. Also called trigger slack.

Nice definition for a single-action trigger, but it has nothing to do with a striker fired pistol.
The Sigma trigger has 2 functions:
1. Cock the striker
2. Release the striker to fire the cartridge.

All but the last bit of trigger travel is involved with function 1.
If you want a crisp single-action trigger, you need to buy a single-action pistol.
By the way, most competitors who have tried reducing the striker spring or shortening it's stroke have gotten FTF. Most leave that part stock, even for range queens.

isnt the striker cocked when the slide cycles and all the trigger does is release the striker? and why cant i have a crisp trigger, glocks do and they do it with a very short stroke. the sigma is capable of being as good as if not better than a glock it just takes some tuning.

It is my understanding the strike is not cocked, hence the reason the striker spring softens the trigger.

No, see OKFC05's post. Theoretically I suppose it could, but would require a significant (complete?) redesign of the sear block, and/or striker, not just "tuning". Although there are similarities, a Sigma is not a Glock. Some of us are OK with that, some of us even like it
