Default trigger mod = broken striker

recently purchased a sigma and went to do the trigger mod.when i broke down the sear block ,there was only the inner spring,so i got thinking maybe the trigger mod had already been done(didnt feel like it though) and also i could not get the pins (one long and one short) out of the block to polish up the surfaces.looked like the pins were pressed in and uncapable of being removed,so i left it alone.is there an aftermarket sear block assy that is made like that.probably.i do have the model 9v so maybe on that model they are unremovable(although the part #s are the same at numrich)well all i could really do was remove the pigtail spring and put it back together.took it to the range, one shotand the striker did not reset. although it chambered a round the stiker was not reset.manually pulling the slide back would reset it,though.well, for 3more shots, then nothing would reset it.pulled it apart and the striker is broke.is that just a wierd coincidence,or did the pigtail removal have anything to do with it.any advice is appreciated. i aint giving up on this pistol cuz i like everything about it other than the trigger, which i can get used to.thanks

You are correct the 9v and 40v only had 1 spring, but it was the "outer". The striker assembly is pressed on those models and crimped in place. Someone could have monkeyed with it and hence the problem. If the sear is failing to reset it would be a direct link to removal of the spring. The striker could have broke or been broken before. They had a redesign and improved the striker. Sending it in will get it replaced. You just need to get it back to stock first.

Thumbs up

I have modded 2 9VE's and both are smooth shooters. However, off the shelf, my wifes (about 2 years old) was perfect. Both went thru many trigger mods. They are both great shooters but I'm concerned with reliability. I think the VE's are perfect for what they are intended for out the door. Think "J frame semi auto Hi caps" with a self defense trigger. Thank you S&W for making an afforadable safe, carry weapon for the masses!

I have a 9VE that broke the striker in the first 100 rounds. S&W fixed it quickly. It was the 2nd one I owned. I still think they are a good bargain for the money. I liked them enough to buy a 2nd one after I sold the 1st.
