SD holsters. Who makes them?
So I've had an SD9 for a month or so and now I am looking for a holster for it. I am having trouble finding holster makers who have molds for the SD series. I want to carry AIWB and I would prefer a kydex holster. So far the only one I've been able to find is the Crossbreed Quickclip. I am curious if any of you have tried the SD in a holster made for a more popular pistol i.e. Glock 19 or M&P with any success. There are a plethora of holsters out there for these other models. Do any of you guys carry AIWB and if so what holster are you using? I'm not opposed to leather. I am just thinking kydex would be thinner.
Thanks.

Crossbreed SuperTuck holster for the Sigma works pretty good. Shape of the trigger guard is a little different, but doesn't cause a problem.

I bet a Sigma or a M&P holster can work with it

While hunting for my next M&P holster I found several places that would list them as M&P9/SD9. I also found a few where the SD9 already had its own category. Just run through the gambit of big name makers and see if they have a "search by gun make & model" feature. Galco, DeSantis, Don Hume, G&G, etc., etc. You can also search places like Midway USA and Optic Planet.

Here are a few that offer holsters specifically for the SD: Crossbreed, DeSantis, Galco, and High Noon.
Raven Concealment Systems does not, but says they may add it this year.
As of a week or so ago, the following did not list it on their respective websites: Blade Tech, FIST, Kholster, Comp-tac, Custom Carry Concepts, Kramer, Talon Tactical, NTAC, and aholster.com.

Thanks for the feedback guys. As I am looking at my SD right in front of me it looks like the trigger guard is more in line with the M&P than the Sigma. I've owned both the M&P and Sigma. I have since sold both of them. I have a High Noon Bare Asset holster for the Sigma and in order for the SD to fit in it I had to completey remove the tension screw. . .

The BladeTech that came in the case with my MP FS9 works very well.
My holster is for OWB.
IWB for MP should work just fine I would think.
Good Luck

Smith& Wesson website has a Desantis in the catalog that is made for the SD. I got 1 last week. It is a belt slide with the S&W logo stamped on it. Had to wait about 3 weeks to get it. It really fits my SD40 very well.

All of my M&P 40 holsters I have work for my SD9. My Serpa works as does my IWB by Blackhawk and my Taguna OWb with Thumb break retintion.

My Dillon was made for a Glock, but with getting the leather wet, and covering my SD9 with heavy freezer bag, I form fitted it.

Shielded holsters.....
Hi,
I don't know if you have already made up your mind, but if not I want to highly recommend taking a look at the products of Shielded Holsters by Kwart. I have ordered a holster and mag pouch from him yesterday for my Sigma 9mm.......
He has about 42 pages of rave reviews from customers at the Glocktalk forum. Here is the link: FS: Custom Made Holsters! - Glock Talk.
The holsters are similar to the Crossbreed ones, but look better. Anyway, I'll know more when I get mine. They are dirt cheap too: $50 for my gun holster and $30 for the double mag pouch. And if he doesn't have the mold for your particular gun he will do his best to try to get it!
And you can get it customized any way you want for free (most of it).
Anyway, I would definitely take a look if I were you. If they're anywhere near as good as they are being described.... I will definitely order one for my SA XD40SC to replace my Crossbreed Supertuck!
Regards, Eric

Thanks for all of the info guys! Since a few of you have mentioned that your M&P holsters work I think I am going to try the Archangel holster by Dale Fricke. It seems to get very good reviews so I guess I'll give it a shot. If it doesn't work I think I'll try the High Noon Public Secret. I just wanted to try Kydex first because of the thinner material vs. leather. And being up front in the appendix position I think I want to save as much space as possible. . .

I was looking at the Blackhawk. Which one do you have?
This is the one I was thinking about : Blackhawk 73IP06BKL ITP Holster Left Hand 3.75"-4.5" Large Auto Pistol.
According to S&W website, the SD9 is considered a 'large' frame, but I've seen many others on the web who state it is actually a 'medium' frame. Which is it?

The one thing you want, is for your holster to be able to hold up to the task. I checked this holster out, and well its cheap and looks and feels like it will wear out in short order. The inside of the holster has material that feels like reholstering your SD9 would prove difficult should the need required.

Yes, I agree.
I should probably spend the money and get one that will last. I do like the arch angel. I'm looking for an IWB, but I haven't carried in about 15 years or so, and even then it was a six shooter. Although I've owned semi-autos before, I've never carried. Any pros and cons to the aforementioned holsters? Or any more that anyone knows of?
I was also looking at this: Fobus Holster: S&W M&P 9mm, .40, .45 and SD9/SD40 - EVOLUTION ROTO-HOLSTER™ PADDLE - LEFT HAND. I know its not an IWB, but I do need it to be left-handed. Any thoughts?

I am also looking for a good holster for my SD9. Right now, I'm using an Uncle Mikes OWB belt clip size 15, just to be able to carry and it was inexpensive. I am a pretty big guy, so IWB is not really an option. I'll check all the info posted here to see if something will work for me and if anybody has any other ideas, let me know. Thanks!

I have found that any M&P holster will fit my SD40 VE So there are tons of options for holsters out there.
I recently just picked up a Galco double time made for the M&P, the SD fits like it was made for it.

I have the kydex body of a mtac holster that I had to modify to get my SD to fit properly. I also have a bladetech paddle holster for an m&p that is also not quite right. Both are perfect except for a very small fraction of an inch at the end of the barrel that doesn't allow the trigger guard for the SD to fully seat in the holster. I'm sure there are plenty out there that work and of there was any give such as a leather holster, it would work fine. My experiences, ymmv.

The Galco TR472 is an excellent Kydex IWB holster for the SD9. It's well made and extremely comfortable. It has a molded shield on the left side to keep any sweat away from the slide.
Best Regards,

Galco Triton
On a hunch, I tried a Triton TR472 for an SD40. It fit like a glove. Unfortunately, Galco only indicates the TR472 is compatible with the M&P 9 and 40. I have now sent them an email asking them to include the SD40 in the descriptor for the TR472. We'll see.
