Default Sigma SW40VE

I have shot 250 rounds through my new Sigma the last few times to range , today I carried for the first time, instead of my 357 Mag.

While carrying I noticed the bullets in both Magazines Rattle, is that normal. seems odd. Sounds as though one got loose in mag, but everything seems normal when I checked.

Thanks.

It's normal. My Sigma magazines do it. I have Glock, Ruger, and Beretta magazines that also rattle to varying degrees. It's just the nature of a doublestack magazine.

Thanks Spinr. This is my first Modern Semi Auto, and first Double stack, was surprised by rattle. The only other Semi Auto I own is an Ortgies 7,65 Browning Made 1925 in Germany single stack of course, no rattle.

i dont see how the rounds would rattle around unless the there was a problem with the spring or follower.

Double stacks will rattle. There's only 1 round exposed at the top. That means the pressure is on one side or the other of the stack. So the side without pressure is looser and can rattle. Like anything else, YMMV.

Sometimes the cartridges line up and stagger just so that one or two of them don't have any pressure on them so they can move freely inside the magazine. It's dependent on the particular magazine, the brand/type of ammunition, and sometimes the strength of the spring. Rarely does it mean there's a problem with the magazine.

As Deltaboy said, giving the magazine a smack on the baseplate can often settle the rounds and stop the rattle.

While I've noticed a rattle with my mags, and when the loaded gun is shaken; There's the rattle. Once holstered, however, I couldn't get a rattle except from my chest after jumping around so much!
