I want one of the SD9s, but I just spent all my gun money on a 4586 and a 4586 TSW from Bud's (Gun Shop and Police Supply respectively), hard to pass up the 4586 for $259 and the 4586 TSW for $299.
Anyway, after I recover from those purchases and get my wife the M&P9 she wants, I'll grab an SD9.

Decisions, decisions...I'm buying one in two weeks and I thought I was okay with the .40. Now the universally available 9mm version rears its little head.
Now I've been having the 9mm vs .40 fight in my head all day and still couldn't tell you which way i'm going to go.

I keep having that same fight. And each time, the 9mm wins. I just can't really justify the purchase of a 40. More recoil, more muzzle blast, more wear and tear on my hands and wrists, more of everything that I got rid of my "big bores" to reduce. So, the 9mm keeps winning. If you do your job, with the latest available ammo, the 9mm will do its job. But, each to his own, and as always, YMMV!
Take Care, God Bless, And WATCH Your Back!

There should be a law that gun manufacturers can not advertise or leak any details of a new design or model until they have 100,000 units sitting on distributors shelves ready to go!

Yes I noticed that the SD9 had vanished from Buds within 48 hours.

Got any idea how long it might take to sell those 100K units? Or how much more they'd cost after paying interest on the money borrowed to produce & ship them?
The initial production runs are generally made to meet a projected demand after talking to distributors and large stocking dealers. Otherwise you end up with things like the Edsel or that Chevy SST truck that had something like 47K units parked in Michigan that they couldn't sell-at least at anything approaching break even.

Nope. But I can recognize when someone is joking and when someone is being serious. Of course a grinning smiley is usually a clue.

Exactly right.
.40 never had a huge advantage over 9mm in performance, but with current ammo, the difference is practically nil.

I like my SD 9. Shoots well. Trigger needed a little polishing but once I got it down to 5 lbs it works like a dream.
It's not quite a good as my Glock but It's a great carry gun. Fits my hand and APEX Tactical has a spring kit for it to really smooth it out.

AZShooter,
You said u have a glock as well. How well does the sd9 compare to your glock size wise.
I am looking into getting a glock 19 and used to have a sigma sw40ve and noticed that the sw40ve is larger than the glock 19. I haven't seen an SD9 in stores and was wondering if there really was a big size difference, especially the thickness under the barrel/frame?
Also is the trigger way better than the older sigma with the Apex kit? Btw i can't find it on APEX site other than for the M&P.
Im just kinda wondering since the price seems right.

Yes I find the size much smaller and more comfortable in the S&W SD9 compared to the Glock. Less squared and more sculptured to fit the hand.
The Apex Kit I called and asked about. Seems to be the same as the one for the Sigma. I haven't ordered the kit yet but will probably call next month. I've spent all my gun money for this month.
