Default range report sd40 ve.

so yesterday I took my brand new sd40 ve to the range for the first time. 20 hundred round of federal 180 gr. fmj. and 5o hydra shock same weight. shot pretty good. 3 inch groups all the war to 30 feet with four and five shots. an empty clip from 14 and it almost one ragged hole. darn good. and it didn't kick as much as I expected. I didn't have any the ftf issues ive read so much about. I also read how bad the trigger is. it breaks clean. just takes a bit to get there. my apex kit should be here the middle of next week so that will be remedied shortly.

after that ill be looking into lights and lasers. any suggestions there will be appreciated.

ive also read that sigma mags fit. and don't rattle when at capacity. anyone here tried that?

also thinking about a metal guide rod.

all and all im very pleased. spent almost a grand less than my kimber 1911. and group almost as good. but that almost is a difference.

great gun for a beginner. or like me a backup/ different caliber. I would recommend this firearm to anyone.

I put the crimson trace cmr-201 on mine and it works great. It's small so you can still find conceal holsters that fit easily.

The stainless steel guide rod and apex kits make a world of difference. I shoot my sd40ve better than i did my m&p40... But then again... I got alot more trigger time with the sd

I added a Streamlight TLR-4 light/laser combo and installed the Apex trigger kit. Zeroed at 7 yards. Trigger is almost as good as my M&P for $200 more. Now it's in my Speedvault attached to my night stand.

yea. I shoot the sd almost as good as my kimber 45. which was almost a grand more. but the guide rod and apex kit might make up the difference. lol

You can buy replacement sd butt plates and swap them on. I don't know if the Apex magazine extensions will take care of the rattle or not but that's another future option.
