more problems
A while back the extractor broke on my SW40VE. Probably had 2000 or 3000 rounds through it. I sent it to one of the warranty centers and had it fixed, while there they did some trigger work on it, since I mentioned that my wife could not even pull the trigger. Now I am getting FTF's from what appears to be light primer strikes. It does it with any brand of ammo, and my reloads. Worse with the monarch ammo academy sells. Depending on the ammo, 1 or 2 per hundred ( except Monarch, which wont even make it through a full mag ) .I really like this gun, but am seriously thinking of getting rid of it. I shoot probably 500-100 rounds a month out of it. Am i just expecting too much from a 300 dollar gun?

If ya really like it, I'd say send it back again. Let em fix the light strikes, and you should have a really good weapon. It's a hassle, I know, but, should be worth it. After trading/buying new guns over the last few years, now if I find one I like I'm keeping it. Too many options out there, I'll go broke trying to find another one I really like.

I agree with Chuck;let them fix it.It has a lifetime warranty and S&W picks up the tab both ways....how can you lose?
Chuck,I too am waiting on funds to buy a Glock 22 I have my eye on.After just recently buying 2 guns my funds went away for the G22.

Definitely do not give up on it! These are great guns and can function perfectly (and usually do).
By all means send it back. I might replace the striker and spring on my own, if it were mine, because it is not hard to do, and would take less time than sending the gun back. But S&W will pay the cost of shipping the gun both ways and has a great reputation for doing repairs.
Bottom line is, for $300 you get a gun that is plastic and does not have a lot of extra features but is guaranteed to work. S&W will make good on the guarantee part.

+1 for Back to S&W.
Call first, give them the gun's history, and let them make it right.
