Thanks deerhtr,
I have had quite a few requests for the green laser. I plan on aquiring a source for them and making one. It will be a few months before I get started but one is in the future. They will be larger as the power requirements are much more and the size of the laser is bigger as well. Also the cost.
I would like to here how many people want the green laser.

I do, but I hear that the green ones aren't always as- is it dependable?- as the red. I also have a problem with red, and would probably be ignorant to buy a red one, but I really want a green one for my SD9. Once I'm sure they're worth it. tdr do you know the 'rumor' I'm talking about? Is there something un-proven about the green? or is my memory failing me again....

Never heard anything about green being more unreliable, but I do not spend a lot of time on the forums.. If anyone finds a post I would like to read it.
Green is more visable, powerfull, brighter, etc. , but I use a red laser to train with indoors. If I am working with someone outdoors in the bright daylight a green laser is a must and I use them.
Most attacks come occur in subdued light or night time. If you are using the laser for self defense green would be a better choice as it will also show in bright sunlight as well.
Even being in the laser business I do not use a laser as a primary sight choice. I use them for training and would only use them in a self defense situation when I had a comprimised position that I did not have a straight line of sight to the target.

I looked and looked, the only mention of problems I could find were kinda old, one being they ate batteries faster than red, and that they generated more heat. My memory was bad, and I'm not surprised. Thanks for responding though.

"one being they ate batteries faster than red, and that they generated more heat."
Those are the 2 basic traits of the green vs red lasers. I have not seen many failure issues.

Excellent article on green lasers in the October issue of American Rifleman. They really cover the topic well and explain all the differences between the two. Extreme cold can cause problems and malfunction and leaving the laser on to long can cause it to shut down from overheating.
Here is the link Crimson Trace Infrared Lasers in Action
