Default trigger wont reset

I have a sigma .40V, I have been trying to do the trigger mod, seen on youtube, but if I take the springs out that they say, the trigger wont reset. I bought the gun used at a gun show, it only had the little spring in it of the double spring, so I cut down the pen spring to fit, ran both, and without the pigtail the trigger wont reset. Any ideas? It wont reset with the bigger spring either, no matter what I do it just wont reset without the pigtail!

You cut the wrong spring. You are supposed to take a little off the short stubby one not he long skinny one.
Did you post this problem on another site but discribe the problem different and post a pic? if so I discribed something to you that has no bearing on you situation.
You need to order a new sear block assembly now. Numerich is out so try Brownells. When you get it, DON'T CUT ANYTHING. You are not at the right experience level yet. You need to understand how the gun operates before you start messing with it. Start be just polishing a mirror finish on trigger bar and trigger assembly in the sear block. Don't remove anything yet. This can also be unhealty for you if you do something wrong.

S&W has shut off the supply of Sigma Sear assemblies and component parts. Brownells cannot get them.

Latest information I have is that if you can't find used parts somewhere, you're stuck. Last person that brought his "home improved" Sigma to me was told by S&W to send in the whole pistol for factory repair. Have not seen him since, so don't know if/what they charged him.

Well that stinks, no replacement parts!

I think I've watched every youtube sigma vid under the sun. While I've seen some shady work on these vids I can't recall anyone cutting the inner spring.

Do what vector said, if not there's other knowledgeable folks on this forum, or take it to a gunsmith that knows what they are doing.

Talking re; sigma

Keep in mind I did not cut the original spring, it just wasnt there so I tried a pen spring. Just called S&W and they told me they no longer have the parts, so if anyone hears of one of these being parted out let me know, until then I guess its an M&P 40 for me!

That stiff inner spring must remain uncut in there. The pigtail helps the reset. You just may have to live with all the original springs.
Shame. It's a good gun.

NOPE, Got the pigtail from a gunsmith now trigger resets, just a heavy pull, but now I have a usable, stock sigma "V"!!! Still love it, just cant shoot it very well, but now my M&P will fit that bill, I can shoot it great!

If it already had the pigtail spring and the outer spring removed when you took it apart then it had already had the better trigger mod done on it. The screw up was putting a cut down spring out of a pen back in with the inner spring, because pen springs are made of very small diameter wire, which tangles with the inner spring when you compress them and therefore keeps both springs from working. That is why the trigger won't reset. If you look at the video on youtube, you will see that the original outer spring is made of a much heavier(thicker) wire than the inner spring and this keeps them from tangling up when compressed. I have both the pigtail and the outer spring out of my SW40VE and have never had a problem of any kind with over 1000 rounds since the mod, as have many other guys on this forum from what I have read. The pigtail spring really increases the trigger pull and from what I can tell that is all it does, so you might try it again and only keep the inner spring in the sear housing and see how it works. If the trigger doesn't reset, there is a good chance that someone has cut down or otherwise modified that spring and you might want to find another(original) one to install. Hope this helps.
