+P or +P+ in The SW9VE
Anybody tried 9mm +P or +P+ through their Sigma?
As I am carrying mine more often, I am looking at some 147 gr HP defensive loads.
Recoil is not an issue for me just wonder what the rest of you have expirenced.

S&W rates the SIGMA for all SAAMI standard ammunition, which includes +P.
There is no standard for +P+, which is loaded however the manufacturer chooses, so you are on your own with it. Some is only a little over +P, some is a lot more.

I may be wrong, but I think that 147gr ammo with a +p rating might be hard to get and expensive. I have found 124gr in +p either the PDX1 or the Ranger bonded are great rounds. I know that S&W does not rate the Sigma to handle the +p+ rounds, so with those you shoot at your own risk. I personaly got the 40VE for my daily carry when I started carrying all the time and gave my 9VE to my wife to use.

I shot some +p hollow points through my 40 and had some jamming issues.

That might be because there's no such thing as a ".40 +P" - Heaven only knows what you were shooting.
Back to the 9mm about which this question was posed: I've tried several +P rounds and a couple of +P+ rounds in my Sigma (if you search on my name and "Sigma" here, you'll probably run across chrono data) without any problems whatsoever, although I mostly practice with inexpensive standard pressure rounds.. I carry the SW9GVE with Winchester's RA9TA +P+ 127-gr Ranger Talon load, which does an impressive 1400 fps from the gun at this altitude.

Thanks for everyones input.
The search is for a reliable, high muzzle energy round. The 147's by Buffalo Bore are impressive as far as numbers go.
I will try a variety of different rounds to see how they shoot.

Question you want to ask about those 147s is, "What velocities were these designed to perform at?"
