Default warranty trigger job????

Ok after reading numerous people saying that S&W will do a trigger job for free on the sigma because of the "gritty" feel and 8 lb pull, i gave them a call the rep from S&W told me there was nothing that S&W would do. Is this true? Has anyone else had this issue? I wouldn't mind doing the job myself but i don't want to void the warranty. Any insight would be great.

Thanks in advance
Zach

From what I've read, people are just calling and saying that the trigger is horrible and like sandpaper and getting the ok to send them in under warranty....I would call and pretty much demand that the trigger get attention.....
BTW its super easy to get the grittyness out of the trigger pull...
Also as long as the factory springs are in the gun, just polishing the sear shouldn't void the warrant...

Yeh, I wouldn't call and ask for a free trigger job, if something is wrong they'll fix it for free. If you just want some free work, I wouldn't tell em.

How much have you shot yours?

By the time I had put 400 rounds through mine the trigger started to smooth out. Cleaned and lubed it per the instructions.

More than acceptable for a DAO pistol.

And don't believe everything you read on the internet.

I have two SW40GVE's, one of them initially belonged to my wife. Hers was sent in to LSG Manufacturing (an Authorized S&W Service Center) because the trigger was "too gritty" for her liking and they smoothed it out quite a bit, as well as getting rid of a lot of the take-up. Best of all, they turned it around in less than 1 week, and it never cost us one red dime.

Here is the link to their website: LSG, Mfg|Gun Parts|Warranty|Gunsmithing

Not to get off subject here, but on a low cost gun something's going to lack quality. When I was younger I'd run 2-3K rounds a month in a variety of calibers. A low cost weapon could serve its purpose to some people, but I'd rather sharpen my skill on a better tool. Allot of things lack quality these days but if you take ownership of it and do the necessary adjustments you could end up with something nice, but don't expect someone to give you a free upgrade.

You just need to call S&W and tell them the trigger is really gritty and the gun does not feel like the trigger is operating correctly. They will tell you to send it back and they will polish the sear and trigger assembly and send the gun back to you in a month, OR you can break out the $2 bottle of "Mr. Metal" metal polish and put a mirror shine on all of those parts and keep you gun. The warrant will not be voided because you are not altering the gun. S&W does not care if the gun was $200 or $2000, their name is on it and they stand behind it 100%. if you are not happy, they are not happy. Do not ask them to modify the gun beyond factory specs though. If you send it in do not send the mags with it. They will use new mags and send those with it upon return.

I was having an issue, not related to the trigger job I did, sent it in for warranty and asked them for more trigger work, they sent mine back with ALL parts replaced, and the same garbage trigger I had already corrected.

I thinkg they are done messin with the trigger, do your own or deal with it.

The warranty states that if you send a modified pistol in to them they are bonded by law to bing the gun up to factory specs before any work is to be done on the gun. If you did not read this then its your own fault. At least you got some free parts out of it.
