I dissassembled the slide easily enough and when I went to put it back together, I cannot get the endcap back on. I can slide it over the firing pin plastic bushing in the center of slide, but cannot get it over the extractor spring. I can't seem to push the extractor spring in far enough. I put the black plastic extracor in the side of the slide first, but the white end plug on the spring will not compress enough. Any suggestions?
I only took mine apart once, but if I recall correctly, you need to make sure the extractor spring is seated in the extractor before replacing the end cap. I think I had to move the extractor back and forth a bit until the spring dropped into place because it can hang up on the edge and won't compress far enough to clear the cap. Best I can think of---Good Luck.
Use a 1/4 punch and compress the spring while pushing the end cap closed, be careful as to not let it shoot out as it will come out of that hole like a rocket... I learned the hard way!
I have the darndest time compressing that extractor spring enough to get the end cap to capture it. I remember working in a drawer to have something to push against and to have a chamber catch the bloody thing when gets loose..
