Default So what's the Sigma 9mm worth...

On the used market?

It had 500 rnds through it and no issue. It's the one with two 10 rnd mags. It also had the torsion (pigtail) spring removed and I lost it.

Should I have S&W fix it before attempting to sell it? Or sell it as is?

Why do I want to sell it? Don't really want to but I have a Sig Sauer P250c 40sw and I want to keep track of only one gun. There's no place to store it safely here.

For someone that doesn't like the Sigma section or us know it alls in this section. You sure do spend a lot time here.

Halfstack!

Your 9ve is worth about $150 at the pawn or LGS. Maybe a little more on trade in. Out right sale should bring $250-$275 easy. I wouldn't worry about the pig tail, but if you do make a sale. Be sure it's in writing of your modification and clear to your buyer. Good luck with the sig.

Really? Thanks man. I took it to the range where I bought it and he offered me $125. I said no thanks I'll keep it.

EDIT: by the way the Sig is sweet but has a long trigger pull. Smooth all the way but takes getting used to it. Shot 130 rounds total of WWB 165s & 180s and PDX1 165s. Not an issue but neither did the Sigma 9.

I have to be crazy to sell it but I need safe storage somewhere somehow.

Yes J Rich, setxn did reveal his disdain for the semi auto and it's users, and he managed to flame all the members who read and contribute to this section, but I digress.

Mine is the VE with 16 round magazines, roughly the same condition, and Gander Mountain offered $100.00 to buy it back from me.
You should be able to get more selling it on consignment at a gun store, say $180.00 (that's your cut).
You can do this and remain anonymous.

If your worried about resale.....just destroy the gun.....part it out and throw the barrel in a deep lake, smash the rest. That way you can be certain it won't end up in the hands of some dipstick cop wanna be , who arms themselves and goes looking for criminals but ends up killing a kid who was just holding his ground from a creepy stalker.

Sorry for the rant.

And remember this setxn, you will always be welcome here, with all of us "Special" members.

The ten round mags will lower the already low resale value of a Sigma. Most gunshops are only going to give in the 100 dollar range, since they'll be selling it at 250 or so.

I figure that I'll have my .40 Sigma for as long as I live. I've had it five years already.

A safety deposit box at the bank ought solve your storage problem. Or get a locking gun box, gun safe, etc. Or learn to carry two guns. Shrug.

Yeah 2 years longer and not many more posts-It's difficult not to come to this "Special" place. Never said I didn't like and I don't remember calling you a know-it-all, but I guess you would know.

douk, I have had my Sigma for several years and enjoy shooting it. I, like all other that post here get to express our opinion. I still stand by that this forum is unlike all others on this site.

I stand corrected.

No big deal setxn, just remember that more members visit this section each day than any other, and that means hundreds (if not thousands) of viewers each day, might see your pithy, witty, and meaningful replies.

I must have mis-understood your intent for the "Special" remarks in another thread.

When I got my Sigma 9 at the range I sold my KT PF9 back to them for $140. That gun was worn out with over 1000 rnds through it. Now $125 for the Sigma which is still as tight as a virgin? I guess they don't like Sigmas. They never stock 'em.

I had one, and will always regret letting it slip away. My brother has one, and it is a great gun. To answer the tread title. They are worth as much or MORE than they go for. It ain't the best trigger in the world to be sure but its accurate, and dead reliable for an extremely attractive price. Whats not to like? It really is a great little gun! Bashers can insult it all they like, but the fact is that Smith and Wesson wouldn't keep them in the product assortment if they were bad selling units!

Now that I think about it, I have never sold a Sigma. But to date I have given a few away and have another on deck to become a birthday gift. I can tell you that my LGS had two used SW9VE's on the shelf last month, both were well worn and tagged at $250. Which knowing my LGS means he gave the seller around $100-125.

You know, I'm gonna keep the Sigma 9 for sure. I didn't have a good day at the range with my Sig P250c 40sw. I shot 50 UMC 180 HPs and 20 WWB 165 FMJFNs and my shot pattern's been drifting down and left. Seems my hand's getting tired from the long trigger pull and the beating from the 40 caliber. That haven't happened before then again maybe I'm shooting too much.

The Sigma 9 was lot easier to shoot and more consistent so it has to be a keeper.

good call on the recoil/age issue. the 50 rounds I fired off at my LGR with my Sigma40 was felt in my shoulders and hands. ten of the last 20 rounds where all over the place. three shots missed the 8.5x11 target at 21ft. then again I fired those 20 in 45sec with a mag change half way. still not too bad for a rusty duffer.

I think you got it right with the recoil/age issue. Tomorrow I get injections in my lower back and neck. My right shoulder will be on the next visit. So it is fatigue.

Not only I shoot too much but I play my guitar too much also.

I've heard $100-$150 at the LGS. Mine was an impulse buy and before it was in my hand I never even heard of the 9VE, but boy am I glad I bought it. It's a great shooter with absolutely no function issues. As far as the trigger goes, I'm used to shooting glocks so I'm used to funky triggers and it's really not that bad. I could never imagine selling mine, it's a fine gun for an amazing price!!

I recently traded 2-9VE's in on 2 Glocks, a G26 and G30. Took $135. each. The Glock prices were very good.$459. and $549. Whole deal was local and saved about $40. over Bud's best deal. We liked the Sigma's a lot but the Glocks blow them outta the water.

Uncle Arthur, both hands, knees & shoulders. I might have to move to AZ for the heat!
