SW9F???
We just bought a used Sigma from the LGS (last Saturday) to replace my wife's Kel-Tec PF9 which she couldn't shoot worth beans and it hurt her wrist. So, I noticed the model number stamped on the slide and it says SW9F. Now I've heard of SW9VE but never 9F.
Can anyone tell me something?
Also, we are not sure if it is the ammo (Sellier & Bellot - 9mm) so we'll be trying out something else as soon as I can purchase some, but it appears that it may be light striking but it could just be the primers on the cartridges. It doesn't always do it but it can also go for several cartridges where there appears to be a pretty good dent in the primer but no bang. So I'm hoping it is an ammo problem and not a firing pin problem.

SW9F
Hey, The SW9F is a first Gen gun. There's alot of history surrounding this model. I have its big brother SW40F. Got it a couple months back. I like this gun alot. I had some similar issues with mine. First i would load 5 rds in mag, first 2 no problem 3rd 4th and 5th would nose dive at the feed ramp. Replaced mag spring and no more nose dives. Now i could shoot 5 in a row with no problems. Next problem now that it chambered properly, after about 15 rounds i would get what seemed like a light strike every now and then. As the gun warmed up. I replaced all the springs and guide in the slide and have since put about 200 issue free rounds thru her. I am very happy now. I plan on getting the SW9F also.

This is a work in progress by one of the Forum Members that I found useful when I discovered the same thing you did; just how many Sigma variants are there?

Seiller& Bellot has given me good service in both 22sv and 9mm. the 22 was in a Winchester 52b would outshoot anything but Lapua Match.
Used 9mm (1000 rounds ) in a class with a Browning HP. Ammo was very satisfactory for me.

It worked fine in the Kel-Tec PF9's we had (sold them a few days ago). Well, we'll try a box of something else and see if that makes any difference. If not, then we'll be following krallstar's advice (will probably do that anyway at some point).

SW9F is a first-generation Sigma. I have its sibling SW40F. My 40F ran great right out of the box, but after 500 rounds or so the light strikes began. It seemed to be ammo-specific for a while, but eventually it would not light off any round.
I called S&W, and the authorized a return for repairs. The replaced the striker, cleaned it up and returned it at no charge. I think the striker and tip had been redesigned after I bought my 40F, and they put in the updated striker.
No light strikes since.
If there is any doubt, call S&W Customer Service and explain what is happening. Most members on this board have had wonderful experiences with S&W service.
Good luck!
