Picked up my SD40 VE Friday
This is the first gun I have purchased, and I cannot wait to go to the range after Christmas. After the reviews I have read I am confident this will be a great little gun

Congrats on your new purchase! I picked up an SD9VE this morning. I can't wait to get it on the range.

Congrats! I picked my SD9VE up a week ago. So far, I've put just over 200 rounds through it with zero issues.
I would encourage you to load your mag to capacity and let it sit for a few days. It will make it easier to load ammo moving forward.

Yeah, my magazine has been loaded since Friday and it is a good bit easier to load.
And to everyone else, thanks!

I loaded mine up as soon as I got home. I got 16 in one but it was a ROYAL pain and I only got 15 in the other. Going to the range in a few days, so hopefully they'll be a little easier by then.

Invest in a UpLULA loader. It will save your fingers and help you shoot more ammo quicker.

wish i could say the same. bought my SD40VE on Dec 26th and have been to the range 4 times, 40 rounds each time and its jammed every time i've been as well as the trigger pin continues to come out during operation. i however cannot push the trigger pin out, though, i do push it back in before its all the way out and the jamming has gotten better after i've taken it apart and cleaned and oiled it. getting easier for me to clear the jams now though :/

Sounds like an issue S&W can fix. They will send you a shipping label for you to send it to them,FREE,there and back.

gtmartin69: I hope SW or your dealer does not charge you for the malfunction drills!! See by cleaning it, over and over you have become much more familiar, better equipped to deal with any problems. That is easy for me to say since I am not dealing with the PIA of a problem but I wish someone would have told me the same thing when my brand new 4" 629 could not hit a 3' X 4' target+backing off a rest at 25 yds with match loads!!! I prob would not have heard them since I was yelling to loud. S&W did take care of it and I am sure they will for you. Be Safe,

Maybe part of the problem with the jams is the ammo? Have you used the same ammo every time?. As far as the trigger pin, definitely get in touch with S&W and have them repair it. I would also ask about the jams and see if they can't help with that as well.

Hmmm, thanks for the suggestion. I never heard of this, but I just bought a SD40VE the other day and loaded the magazine last night. I felt like such a sissy trying to push the rounds in... too many finger dislocations from playing football! haha

Picked up a sd40ve this past wednesday. Paid 381 dollars for it. This being my first gun I'm glad I bought it. Couldn't get past the glocks grip angle and the chunkyness of the xd's grip. I heard running snap caps through it will help smooth the trigger when I'm not at the range.

What brand of ammo
Just curious what brand/ type ammo did you use. I have read some good and bad stories. Just looking to pick the best ammo for my new SD40VE before I head to the range.

As stated in an earlier post, I have the SD9 VE and to date I have 600 flawless round through it. I have ran several types of ammo through my pistol but my advice would be to ensure you use/buy brass casings regardless of the actual brand. My gun eats everything I out through it.

You should be able to use ANY type of ammo you want. I used to use WWB for range time and Hornaday Critical Defense for home protection in my SW40VE. Sometimes I would use the range reload ammo.

I've had my SD40VE for just over three weeks. With two trips to the range I've put almost 300 rds through it and the only two FTF's were with some American Eagle 165gr, which I see in other posts that others have had trouble with this ammo too. When I compare them to some of the other ammo that I have used it is obviously lower quality.

From what I've read and my own personal experience stay away from American Eagle and PMC aka the dirty birds (they got that nickname for a reason). Some guns eat everything, but some have had issues with those 2 types.

AE is ****. I can run PRVI, WWB, or (take your pick) through mine without any issues. American Eagle should have stuck to making clothing.....(that's a joke). There is a reason Federal doesn't put their name on AE, a buddy of mine pointed that out to me and I think he is onto something. Just sayin....

My SWVEs never had a problem with this ammo.
