Default Sigma 40ve ftf

Hi i'm new to the forum here, my question is this: I recently bought a used sigma 40ve in (apparently) great condition. I just got to go fire it today and it had multiple ftf's. From what I could tell after firing the slide would not go back fully forward (about a 1/16 of an inch would be protruding from the rear). If I noticed it I could hit it with the palm of my hand and push it fully forward, but as it didn't happen every shot it was a huge hassle to shoot, look to see if it went back properly, hit it in place if it didnt, aim again, etc. I am wondering if it could be the ammo, maybe I need to clean and oil it, or is it a mechanical failure? The owner before me DID do the trigger mod on it so I guess it's possible that could be related, but I really don't think so since the problem is with the slide movement and not weak firing pin strikes. Also the trigger reset after every fire, just with the slide slightly farther back it would dry fire. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ammo, limp wristing, brushing the slide as you fire, weak recoil spring, dirty

Clean and inspect the gun completely change ammo and shot it again, if it still does it have another shooter try it to see what happens

Welcome to the.............. well you know.

Good post above and info as well.

First tell us what ammo you are using, then we must clean and lubricate properly.

Sadly, the mods made might call for you repairing or returning to stock/original condition the Sigma in question.

Not only are you on thee best forum in the Universe, we Sigma hoodlums I mean owners are here to help and help we will. I can promise you that you will be shooting again soon with the utmost reliability possible from your Sigma, hang tough and we will get you dialed in.

Welcome to the forum, 26Ford

J Rich will probably chime in later, he's knows the Sigmas better than I as I am fairly new to the breed as well. I was blessed with buying a pre owned one in better than new condition. Hang tough my friend.

Thanks 26Ford.

I'm with cbr on this 1. That pretty much covers everything.

Does your slide move freely? Test with mag removed and chamber cleared. Pull slide back and let it snap shut. How'd it do?
