SW40VE Help

I have a SW40VE, I have noticed that the slide is a little loose on the frame, is there any way to tighten the slide up on the frame? Im wondering if I could get it tighter on the frame, it might help improve the accuracy a bit. Any help is greatly appreciated.

If you are (or know) a good gun smith or machinist, then the answer is yes, if not no. Might be a market for Apex or someone to manufacture some oversized frame rails that could be filed to fit, but AFAIK no one does.

Having said that the Sigma/SD's are accurate enough as they come for self defense and IDPA type shooting. The more generous tolerances contribute to reliability which trumps accuracy in a fight.

I have a little play in my SW9VE as well. I thought that was normal given that metal expands when hot.

Two ways machine a new slide or install new frame rails.

No way will the slide expand because of heat due to normal operation, if that was the case most guns would lock up.

Slop is normal. Glocks have it as well. As long as the barrel locks up tight in the slide, it's fine. My coworker's duty weapon (G-17) was so loose they gave him a new one. It was put into service in 91 or 92.

Yeah. When I mentioned loose, I saw him twist the slide quite a bit. The armorer told him he could have ripped it right off if he gave it a little more twist. I would have liked to see him run it til it failed, but that's a no go for a duty gun.

Ya there is play in my SW9VE too. No Worries, +2000 rounds with 0 problems(knock on wood)!! as far as accuracy goes i can hit a pumpkin from 50 yards out 4 out of 6 shots

AND i havent even done anything to the gun, no new sights no trigger job or anything. not the best shot around by any means, but the SW9VE has been a great shooter for me and has made me a better shooter.

You can fire your 40 from the bench rest to test the accuracy. Both the front end and the butt should be on rest for reliable testing.
