Question 165g or 180g -- which do you use in your .40?

Just curious to see what grain you guys are putting through your .40, and which grains you've discovered have hiccups! (If that .40 is also an SW40VE, so much the better!)

I've always used 165 grain Golden Sabers without a problem. I am now going to give the 180 grain Ultramax lead a go. Over the years I've moved towards heavier bullets..... and lead.

I mainly use 165gr fmj from Georgia Arms. Also 165 JHP from Ga arms, speer golddots, and 180 winchester. All with no problems.

For practice ammo I use Federal 180 gr, fmj or Winchester 165 gr, fmj. The serious ammo is gold dot, 165 jhp and/or federal hydra-shock 165 gr, jhp.

I've also tried some cheap 180 gr. fmj steel case stuff, but it sure got the gun dirty and I won't use it again.

stick with 180gr bullets which are plentifully availible for reloading and lots of reloading data for them. tried 135-180gr bullets 135 @ 1150fps shoots like 9mm recoil wise otherwise its flat shooting. 150-155gr is little snappy forget what they are commonly loaded to some 1200fps. 165gr-180gr 950-1050fps however it is possible to get 180gr bullets flying 1150fps out of 4" bbl but dont want to shoot those without hearing protection unless you dont mind going deaf in future which would happen sooner rather than later.
