Apex trigger kit good for carry?
I know a few of you guys have installed this on the SD40VE and SD9VE and recommend it. But im worried about reliability in a carry gun. I plan on shooting my SD40 at the range more because i do enjoy shooting more tha. My 457 and bodyguard 38. So i would like a better trigger pull, but dont want to interfere with tbe reliabilty of this gun. Has anyone put a 1000 rds or so with the apex kit? If so any issues?

I installed an Apex SD trigger kit in my 9mm SD (not SDVE) and found that I was getting light strikes. No problem with reloads using Federal primers, but getting about 10% misfires using CCI & Wolf primers. Put about 150 rounds thrugh in this configuration.
I measured the striker spring weight at full travel in the slide by pulling back the striker using an RCBS trigger pull gauge, and measured about 3.75 lbs as compared to the factory spring (with about 2000 rounds on it) at about 5.25 lbs. I've put the factory striker spring back in, but left the Apex trigger return spring and firing pin block spring in the gun, this gives me a trigger pull of about 6.25 lbs. Probably 500 rounds in this configuration with no problems and 100% reliability.
I emailed Apex to get their comments, no answer.
Based on my experience I'd say NO to the Apex SD spring kit in your carry gun.

While not the SD I tried the Apex Spring kit in my Sigma and had light strikes also. I could not use my reloads with CCI primers. I too removed the striker spring and put the factory spring in and shot this pistol in a training class where I shot 400 rounds of my reloads with not one problem. I can not recommed the spring kit for a carry gun.

You could always leave the striker spring in place and just replace the trigger spring and firing pin block spring.
Just a thought

I installed the Apex kit and my trigger pull went from just over 8 to just over 6. 100% reliability from everything: blazer, WWB, federal, Remington, magtech, I know there is more. I'm really surprised to hear about light strikes and would recommend it to anyone. The trigger is now much better.

I put a kit in my SD (the black original) and have no problem at all and I have shot hundreds of rounds through it. That said, I would never carry a gun that has has the trigger altered in any way, especially since the Apex makes it a bit lighter.

No issues with mine but addmitedly have taken it to the range only once.. That said, only the striker spring affects firing pin force/reliability anyway. As mentioned, you can leave in the factory spring if this worries you and just replace the other two. You could also swap the striker spring out for one just a tad lighter . I believe Wolf makes a striker spring sampler kit for Glock's that fit but no direct experience with that one.

Update: Apex contacted me, and after discussing the situation with Scott, he sent me a replacement striker spring. The new spring, according to my measurements, was slightly over 5.25 lbs, compared to the factory spring of 5.75 lbs and the original Apex Spring at 3.75 lbs. With the new Apex spring the trigger pull measured 5.5 lbs.
Put 150 rounds thru the SD with CCI & Wolf primers. Deep dimples in the primers, and 100% reliability.
I would say it's good to go for carry, but if your primers show shallow dimples or failures to fire, then use the factory striker spring.

I would like to install that spring kit, but after watching the installation video my SW40 is not built like the gun in the video. The gun in the video has a roll pin that goes though the extractor from the top of the frame. Mine does not have that pin.
Are there any other videos showing the installation for sigma SW?

Remove the slide end cap as demonstrated in the video, and then remove the striker and extractor spring assembly. Depress the striker safety plunger and remove the extractor from its' slot. It will probably fall out if you turn the slide over. Once the extractor is out, the striker safety plunger can be removed from the slide.
