I made a mistake
My wife bought herself a new pistol, a SD9VE. I thought it was a Sigma and I would lighten the trigger for her so I removed the pigtail spring. Now she has FTF (failure to feed). She is pissed at me for ruining her gun. Would removing this spring have that effect on the gun? I wouldn't know how to properly reinstall this spring ( it is easier to remove than to reinstall) Please help save my life.

Why in the world would you remove the only spring that resets the sear? If you removed the spring on the sear it would have nothing to do with FTFs all it would do is not allow the sear to reset. I have taken mine down a few times its not that hard really to put the spring back in. Your talking about this one right?

This is why non-gunsmiths shouldn't work on guns.
Really, you just assumed that since it was a Sigma (so you thought) that it needed to be "fixed"?
Wow!!!
You could have let her decide if it needed...anything.

Wow, you messed up big time. She bought the gun and you messed it up? You best figure out how to get that thing fixed and fast. Maybe try looking up Sigma trigger on youtube?
My wife likes her 66-3 just the way it is and warned me that if I ever changed it she'd use it on me. If I messed it up and it didn't work? I don't even want to think about it.

First off despite what you may have read online S&W did not put any extra springs in the Sigma. With the Sigma there is a cam like motion of the sear which requires both downward and rearward movement which is why there are two sets of springs. They stacked two springs together to help with spring deflection. There are far too many online who are under the misguided assumption that they are not only a skilled gunsmith but a mechanical engineer as well and put out these so called how to vids without any understanding of the actual mechanics in the sear assembly.
Now as far as how to put the spring back in...look at the spring there is one side with the tip bent that side goes against the back of the plastic sear housing and the other one rest against the tab on the sear.
If you have any more questions PM me

Tough crowd here.
I'm no Sigma expert, but there can't be more than a couple of ways to install that spring. Try it one way. If it doesn't work, try it the other way. I remember the first time I took a hand spring out of a K-38 Masterpiece. I thought I had ruined the gun, but after a couple of stumbles I got it back in the trigger in the only way that would allow it to work.

At least he admitted that he made a mistake and didn't come up with a lie (i.e. I bought it this way, blah...). And he messed up his own stuff... so please help if you can.

Failure to feed or failure to fire? Removing that spring would result in failure to fire so I don't see how it caused failure to feed. The recoil spring is responsible for feeding so you didn't leave that one out didn't ya?

Speaking of VIDS, go to YOUTUBE and look up SIGMAS. There are many vids in there which are very detailed in taking out these springs like you mistakenly did. Just follow it backwards to put it back in, assuming you did not cut any other springs like some of them advise.

I think you need to buy her a new car. That'll take her mind off of the gun for a day or two.

Yea, the only spring I removed was the pigtail spring, I am puzzeled as to why I have failures to feed now. I cleaned the gun today and bought some 124 grain ammo. I will take it out this weekend to see if that makes a difference.

If all this fails
There is some great advice on this thread. If I can't find out how to do something the first place I go is youtube. If all this fails, a trip to the gunsmith would cost some money but not be such a PITB and you could sleep nights.

Gun has been repaired by someone with more talent than me. Shoots like a dream again, now my wife has let me back into the house.
