Default sd9ve and sd40ve

I am new here so bare with me. I have just purchased the sd40ve and just love it. My curiousity is killing me. My question is the sd9ve and sd40ve seam to be very simular except for the barrel. Will the 9mm barrel fit into the 40 s&w and will bullets work in the 40 clip or will you have to get a clip for the 9mm. If so you can have the best of both worlds and I would really only want this for range shooting due to the fact that the 9mm rounds are cheaper and more popular.

The Sigma/SD series are NOT caliber convertible . In addition to the obvious differences, the mags/mag wells are different widths from the 9mm to the .40.
A couple of years ago, one of the posters tried to modify Sigma .40 magazines to use a 9mm barrel in his .40 Sigma and wound up with an unreliable (unsafe?) mess.

If you want a caliber convertible gun, get a .40 or .357 M&P to start with. Then you can have .40 and .357 Sig with just a barrel change (mags are the same), and add 9mm with a barrel and magazines.
