Pachmayr vs Hogue
I have seen mention of the Pachmayr tactical handgun grips and the Hogue Handall grips in numerous threads... But never really a true comparison. I was told that the Handall size large would fit my SD40VE and the Pachmayr Sigma size would fit as well. I like the looks of the Pachmayr one but I can't find them anywhere but online, and I wanted to hear some opinions before ordering. Do you guys have any suggestions? I just don't want it to be baggy or loose fitting. Thanks!

I couldn't decide either from doing research, so I ordered both, but I haven't received them yet.
I've heard the Houge has a little bit more cushion than the Pac.

I have used Hogue Handall's on other guns and give them a 5+ rating. Comfortable and absorbs recoil very well. In fact I will order tomorrow if I can't find them at my local gun shop. For the SD9 and SD9VE or the 40's you need to get the universal full size sleeve. DO NOT get the M&P as it has a backstrap tab on the inside of the grip and will not work. Most all sites have them. Budsgunshop.com has them for about $6.79.

The Hogue is good, but you'll need to trim a bit off of it at an angle at the top...if not, you'll get a buckling in the palm at the top. I wish I would have trimmed it better, but I didn't. I plan on ordering another and doing it right this time.

I've used Hogue's for some guns in the past, but no longer do because of the finger grooves. Not only do I not like them, but if you shoot USPSA then you can't add finger grooves via a slip on grip to a gun that didn't originally have them and remain Production-legal.
These days I actually prefer to just use bicycle inner-tubes for my grips. They give me the same nonslip properties without changing the profile of the grip, and you can get about 20-30 grips out of a tube for $5 .

I ended up ordering the Pachmayr Sigma grip, part # 05166 from Ebay for $13.24 with free shipping. I figured I havent seen many reviews on it so maybe I can help you guys with my review when I receive it! If I hate it... I know I can get it the Handall easily from my LGS. Thanks all!

I just installed the Hogue fullsize for all semi automatics today and did not notice any buckling at all. It went on easily...or as easy as one can expect. I did notice that the sleeve is a bit long on the backstrap end but not enough to interfere with grip or magazine insert or ejection. Did not need to trim. All in all fits like a glove and feels great. Guess time will tell if wear will cause the buckling.....

I tried the bicycle innertube but the valve stem kept getting in the way.

Just got in my Pachmayr tactical grip in, bought it from an eBay seller on Tuesday for $13.24 (free shipping) and it was in my mailbox today. I got the one made for the Sigma... It is nice and stretchy so it went on smoothly. I haven't shot it yet, but it feels snug enough that it won't slide around. I'll let you guys know how it does when I shoot it. Otherwise, I'm pretty excited about it. Check out the pic...

Houge grips for me too...
My first "sleeve" add on was for my sigma 9mm 10+ years ago. There just a tad big for my hands, but I really like the gun better with them on than off. I haven't worn them out yet either.
I really like the "Houge wraparounds" that I got for my 1911. Now that's a perfect fit for me. I also had a set of the Pachmayr for my 1911, but they kind of fell apart(Rubber started to tear) in the first week I had them, so I took em back and got the houge's.
When I go shooting with friends, they usually like the feel of the Houges too.

If I am going to put a finger grip sleeve on my gun I might as well buy a Glock. Which is why either one will never happen! (Esp. the latter)

This is true I have the same problem, but some trimming fixed it.
I wish the back of the grip had some texture to it instead of being smooth.

I would suggest the LimbSaver product, they are great at reducing felt recoil.

I have Pac's on my 686 and I love them. The Hogue's that came with the gun were just a little to small and narrow for my hand. Big fan of the Pac's

The Hogue Handall has a bit of a palm swell as shown here, comparing a inner tube grip..
The Pachmayr Tactical does not have the palm swell and is made of a softer rubber..
