Default PMC ammo FTF

I recently purchased a SD40VE to replace an older Glock I now have in my bug out bag. I went economical since this was just going to be an extra house gun. I was worried when I took it to the range and it kept FTF several times each mag. Cleaned it and tried again and had the same issues. Went back and tried different ammo and no issues. Reading a few other posts I see that others have had issues with the PMC ammo. I've fired Federal and winchester with no issues.
I've also read that a few SD40 owners sent theres back to S&W and they made modifications to fix this. I think I'm going to go that route also since it can't hurt. When I get it back I'll let you know how PMC fires through it. Please let me know if you are having simular problems and what ammo you were using. Also let me know if you sent it to S&W to fix and how it works now. Thanks

Default PMC ammo FTF

Welcome to the forum

And

Welcome to the PMC sucks club. Lol, the Sd is a good gun for the price but it does not like PMCS. As Jrich said you should just search the forum and you will find a plethora of information and previous threads on the same issue. From what I have seen its almost a 100% across the board problem with PMC, but no other brands have become prevalent for causing major FTF's. some of the SDs came with the feed chamber a little tight which has lead to some of the ftf issues and some problems with the action not closing completely after racking the slide for the initial load.

Main problem with pmcs may exist more in the 40. pmcs have lower recoil weight and the 40 is real snappy so if you limp wrist it at all it will jam and sometimes even if you have a good grip it still doesn't seat right.

As for my personal experience : 250 rounds flawless with federal fmj's. 50 rounds with PMC bronze and had FTF following about 30-40% of shots. Have not sent to SW but probably will be making a call in the near future.

Good luck with your new SD and let us know how everything pans out
