Question Looking For A Part Number SD9VE - Rant Warning!!

First I would like to say I have lurked here for a while, but just today made an account. I have learned a lot here and am hoping one of you may be able to help me out.
I have had a Sigma for many years. This past Saturday I saw the SD9VE in Academy and had to have it. I love the gun. My only complaint is I wish the thumb rest was a little deeper like the one on my SW9VE. The SD just doesn't have as much of a triangular protrusion at the bottom as the SW. Regardless, I will get used to it.
I have accumulated many Sigma mags over the years and its great that they will fit the SD, but I prefer the rounded base plates found on the SD magazines. I couldn't find a parts list on the website. So, I figured I would call Smith & Wesson, get the part number, and order some.
Surprising in the current political climate, I only sat on hold 30 minutes. Then I spoke to Robert, who acted as if I had asked him the meaning of life or something. He couldn't find anything on the computer so I politely asked him if I might be able to speak to someone in the parts department. (Assuming he was in a contracted call center somewhere) He wasn't. He was in the basement under the gun factory in Springfield, MA. Badass!!
So, he put me on hold so he could run over to the parts department and check the bin where the floor plates go and get the part number for me. He came back and said the bin wasn't labeled, then just silence. Finally I said, "OK, so what do we do now?" He proceeded to tell me my gun has only been out for a month or so and the part didn't have a number yet. He advised me to call back in "a month or so." Although I knew the SD9 had been out for somewhere around 2 years + I realized continuing the call would be fruitless, so I thanked him for his time and ended it. Please tell me this guy was an exception to Smith & Wesson's otherwise stellar customer service department. I have owned several Smith's, but have never had to call customer service. Ok, rants over. Does anyone know the part number and/or somewhere online I may be able to procure me a few of these rounded floorplates like the ones in the picture? I would greatly appreciate any help or input.

tl;dr, I am looking for the part number for the SD9/SD9VE magazine floor plate.

Thumbs up

I don't know the number but if you have a grinder and/or Dremel you can make the Sigma plates look like the SD's with a little finesse.

Being as S&W is out of stock on the mags. I would say they are using what floor plates they have to make more mags. I could be wrong on this.

I am also with Ruger Nut it's not hard to round yours.

I found this thread: http://smith-wessonforum.com/smith-w...aseplates.html

which seems to say that part number is for the .40 cal mags. Skywarrior says he was sent the wrong ones and they wouldn't fit his mags. I wonder if the part number for the 9mm is only one digit different? I'll keep looking.

Default Looking For A Part Number SD9VE - Rant Warning!!

soooo...I was in one of my LGS's Monday and they had Sigma high cap 9MM mags for, I want to say, $28 and some change. they had 4 or 5 mags...I was kind of excited when I saw them...but quickly turned to sadness when I realized they didn't have any .40 mags. pretty much a steal considering another LGS has SD mags for $80...talk about jerks!

anyway...if they would have had .40 mags I would have done J Rich's floor plate rounding...ain't no shame in saving $50! lol

Keep an eye out on Gunbroker for used Sigma .40S&W LE turnins. Even during this panic buying spree I managed to snag a lot of 3 of them for $65.

As I've noted in another thread though, while the Sigma floorplate fits, it doesn't fit the SD as well as the actual SD floorplate. The base is just a wee bit (about 0.020") thicker which makes it more difficult to seat the mags. They'll catch, but its just not as fluid or smooth as with the SD baseplates. Rounding them won't help that. Thining them down from the top might, but personally I'll be ordering the correct SD baseplates when things calm down.
