Default Spring for SD9VE

I have done some searching and am just unable to find a tension spring for this platform to cut down on the recoil. My friends 40 kicks less than my 9. Ha anyone put an after market spring in yet and if so, can you send me the link?

Go to Galloway Precision's site...they offer variable weight recoil spring assemblies for the SD9, which includes a stainless steel guide rod. I ordered one in OEM weight, so I have no idea how the various weights will help (or may induce problems) or affect recoil.

Does your friend have a SD40VE or a different pistol?

The recoil spring must be matched to the particular ammunition you are using, and will NOT "cut down on recoil." A too heavy spring will not eject properly, and a too light spring will batter the frame. The recoil spring is selected for gun functional reliability.

By the way, the recoil springs for the 9mm and .40 SDs are the same part number.

IMHO, the stock S&W recoil spring assemblies for the SD are as good as you are going to get, unless you handload to low speeds and need a lighter recoil spring to get proper ejection.

Is the SD9VE recoil spring assembly the same as the Sigma & SW models?

The SD VE and SW VE models all use the same 17# spring assembly S&W #251350000. Not the same as the SWF Original Sigma.

My guide rod looks bent on the flat piece. Gun fires fine though. Is there steel rods instead of plastic that will fit so to speak???
