Sw40ve question and value
I bought this gun about 5 years ago. Has the value dropped on this gun or stayed the same. I gave $429.00 for this gun with a $50 dollar rebate which I never sent in. I understand that S&W got sued and they quit making it. Would that somehow make it a collectors Item? Any input would be recommended good or bad?

Frankly, I don't recognize any of your "information."
I bought SW40VE new for about $300, shot it for several years with zero issues.
I sold it for $250 to someone who just HAD to have it after I loaned it to him at a match, plus I sold him extra magazines and a holster, all ready to go for IDPA.
They are not rare, they are not collectors. They are good basic shooters. The SD40VE is essentially an improved SW40VE with a redesigned trigger. The magazines work in both.

They were created around '94, S&W settled out of court with Glock in '97, I think they changed the design a little around 2000, and they were continued to be produced for the following ten years or so.
There are plenty of Sigmas out there, it isn't a collectors item. Considering the SD, which is essentially an upgrade to the Sigma, goes for low $300s new, your SW40VE isn't going to be worth too much.

Re: Sw40ve question and value
You'd be lucky to get $350 for it since the new SD's are improved and barely over $300. However the maket is screwed up right now and you can probably score about $400 to the right person depending on what comes with it and the condition.

I call the trigger on my SWs "algebra problem" because they are long and hard, like a double action revolver.
The SD has a somewhat lighter trigger.
If you want a trigger in the 5# range, get the M&P rather than try to "improve" the SW/SD pistols, IMHO.

So, the trigger pull is the only issue with the VE?

If you like lots of gadgets and accessories, there aren't many for the SW/SD. Also, if you try to "improve" the SW/SD trigger, you can get into reliability issues.
Basically, I like them stock for training and defense, but use an M&P Pro for competition.

I put the apex trigger kit in my SD and have had no issues in the 450 rounds since.

My 40VE trigger smoothed out nicely over time. Cheers.
