Probably because you're loading them into a clip instead of a magazine. :-)
But in all seriousness, it's common among 40cal magazines. It's simply a round or two that is loose due to the geometry of the stack and the spring pressure. It's normal, nothing to worry about. It will go away when you insert it into the pistol.

It's not just SD's. It's common among 40cal mags. My M&P40 full size does it too, until I insert it into the gun.

as already stated it's common with .40s. I have the SD and a Springfield XD .40 both make the noise. Nothing to worry about.

My Sigma does the same thing. It's not a problem it's a characteristic!

I just bought a SD40 yesterday, the mag noise is a little annoying for sure. Is this something that you just got to live with or will it go away after the mags are used?

New myself. I just got my SD40VE but mine is 10 instead of 14. I have the same problem with mine..one rattles at 8 and the other rattles at 7. I just watched a YouTube video and I gentleman solved his issue by taking his clip and slowly and very carefullycrimping it in a vise till there was no more rattling. I'm going to try the same with mine as I don't want to be making noise CC. I will kept you updated with the results.

Those partial cuts in your 10rd PC mags may let go if you put too much pressure on them. There's designed to destruct if tampered with.

I repaced my SD40VE magazine spring and follower with Glock 22 spring and follower .. No rattles .. So far feeds great ..
My SD40VE magazines rattled awful ..
(I had two new Glock 22 mags , and no Glock 40 cal pistol )

I can hear a very slight rattle in my SD9VE, if I shake it vigorously, but my G17 has a bit more rattle when I shake the heck out of it.
