Default sd9ve slide

Stupid question from a newer shooter.
I have a sd9 I overheard a buddy saying the m&p 9mm slide was interchangeable. I said I didn't think it was since the breakdown was different. I can't find any info to support this and I don't have a m&p slide laying around off hand. Can someone answer this dumb question? Thanks.

I don't have a M&P 9 to try it with, but I'm guessing it won't. For one thing, the barrels on the M&Ps are different lengths...the FS is 4.25" and the compact is 3.5"...while the SD has a 4" barrel. Second, the take down levers are different, as well as other mechanisms. They are different guns.

None of this is a professional opinion, and may be pure hooey, but that's my answer. Maybe someone who has both can respond, or who knows more than squat.

you buddy is mistaken. the different barrel size is a factor. the different takedown parts is an issue. sd has the glock style. m&P has a totally different set of takedown mechanisms.

Not to mention the location of the striker safety and disconnect. With that and the remarks above it absolutely will not work.

Two different firearms and the parts are NOT interchangeable. Smart to look into it for yourself. Lots of great information here in the forum. We all started out as newbies at one point or another.
